I've owned my Uly for about 18 months now. It came with the Dulop tires which many know to have a front end twitchy feeling and follows every crack. Many times I stopped to make sure I didn't have a flat tire. Last year the rear started splitting on me so Buell replace the rear with the Pirelli Scorpion Sync. There was immediately a major difference in handling. I didn't want to replace the front yet so I left it on.

The Uly is a fun bike but it didn't feel stable in the twisties. Finally, about a month ago I broke out the manual and set up the suspension to my recommended weight. What a difference! I took it out on KY 10, 22, 19 and 165 and couldn't believe the handling improvement. Well, the other night I picked up a nail in the rear tire and decided to replace both tires. The Dunlop on front still had a couple of thousand miles left on it (it already had 9K) but I was fed up with the feel.

I thought about replacing the tires with the Pirelli Syncs but would have to wait a week for them to come in. I had Pirelle Daiblo Corsa's on my track bike and really like them. I decided to try the Diablo Stradas, mainly for the milage, on the Uly. My God what a difference. No more wabbling on the front end and smooth tracking. The grip in the corners is fantastic. I rarely go off road on the Uly and if so only on gravel or hard packed dirt. The Diablo's can handle that.

I highly recommend finding a sport tire for the Uly and setting up the suspension for you weight. It will make a huge difference and the fun factor will go up 100%.

I tried a Strada rear with a Sync front, the bike seemed to fall too quickly for me at first but I got used to it. Had to buy the Strada because nobody could get the Syncs at the time.

Grip was great on good pavement but my favorite Uly tire is still the Sync since it fits my needs perfectly for the crappy loose-surfaced roads I like. I also used up the Strada in 4k, my first two 616's went 7.5k and my Sync rears avg 6.5k.

I thought that was odd for a sport touring tire. But tires are like bikes and oil and the RSS, everybody has their own opinions.

Playing with your suspension settings was a good move, that's why Buell puts the good stuff there.

once realizing the difference between the dumbflops and the perelli stradas on the xt, i will never put dumbflops on any of the bikes. the only way the flops held up was when there's a passenger on the bike but when your solo they feel like crap.

I am on my second set of Stradas. I tried a set of Battlax and didn't like them at all and they wore out at about 3000 miles. Stradas are lasting twice that.

I run the Stradas as well. I've had very good luck with them.

I typically go through two rears to a front, but this last set, I chewed up the front before the second rear was worn out so I threw on a Diablo Corsa III track day take off I had laying around.

I might run that combo all the time. I like it.

The Syncs were a major improvement over the Dunlops off road as well. On loose gravel with the Dunlops, I felt like I was driving on marbles at 35 mph. With the syncs I can go 45 mph feeling under control. I got 6500 miles out of my last set and this set is on pace for the same.

If you want a major butt-pucker, just ride those Stradas in the dirt.
Don't ask me how I know.
