All,
I, like some others on this forum, have had trouble with pulsing front brakes. I ride daily, mostly year round. After around 6k miles, my fronts started acting up. It got so bad that I couldn't use my front brakes below around 10 mph, say when creeping up to a stop sign, or in slow traffic. After some research, I bought and installed the lindal pads from american sport bike. The pulsing is gone:-) I do think that the front now requires more effort, I have always thought the old brakes were grabby, but two finger stops are no problem.

While I was at it, I put on the pegs from american sport bike. If you want to stop your feet from moving on the pegs, I highly recommend them . The down side is that you do need to pick your feet up to reposition, no more wiggling them around.

That's it for now. Next time I'll address the crappy dealer situation. My last service had me leaving the dealer over .5 quarts low in the swingarm. I'm still seething about that. If you charge a premium for service, it damn sure better be premium quality.

I just got my new Lyndalls' tonight..I hope they stop the pulsating for good..These are the "new and Improved" versions... I rode an Aprilia Tuono with the radial Brembos last weekend...it sure makes the Buell front brake seem pitiful...If these pads do not stop the pulsating I will not buy another Buell.. just for this reason...

What dealer did the oil change? Our bikes are real finiky with oil levels, its possible it was right when they did the service.

Do your oil level at 2.5 quarts. That should be at the second or third 'X' on the stick. Topping it up is usually going to put oil in the air box and frustrate you on oil use. There are many historical threads on this.

It was the dealer in Frederick, MD. When I got home from picking it up, oil didn't even register on the dipstick. I checked it per the manual, on the side stand.

I've never had a problem with the stopping power. I have locked the front brake before, and rear for that matter.

Radial Brembos....extreme smooth stopping power...with very little effort...not grabby and no pulsating ...say again...SMOOTH and powerful......just a different league all together...thats' why the expensive super bikes use them..there should be no debate on this. I am on my third rotor on the ULY...just about fed up with the pulsating...hope these new pads help.

Before I did my own 5k service, I kept the oil level right above the second X (hot, on side-stand). I put in exactly 2.5 quarts of oil and now it is exactly at the top of the "Fill" (or is it Add?) section, just below the first X.

I've put about 1.5 k miles on it since and it runs fine. I can't say that I'm completely at ease about it though.

I don't see how pads can solve pulsing disks, at least in the long term. I guess if the Lyndalls are a much softer compound they can compensate for a certain amount of warp in the disk, but you're going to wear through the pads awfully quickly. Better to remove the disk, measure it and replace it if necessary.

As far as the Tuono is concerned, I don't know why anyone would be surprised that it has excellent components. If you spend 50% more on a bike B than on bike A, it would be reasonable to expect a higher degree of refinement in bike B. Tell me that a Honda S2000 handles better than a Hyundai Tiburon, and I'll reply "no duh, of course it does!" It isn't really a fair comparison, though.

Have 5500 mi on my '08 Uly X - no pulsing. keep the rotor clean with OOO steel wool and brake part cleaner. +1 on the S-2000. Had the first year model (a 2000 S 2000 - could get confusing) Miss the 240hp 4 banger!
