Coming home from a camping trip yesterday, I was just leaving from a rest stop when I noticed the speedometer wasn't moving. "Ah, darned sensor, I'll have to replace it," I thought, and at 51K miles no big deal.

But at the NEXT rest stop when I left it started working again, and has remained working. Naturally one thinks of a continuity problem, but has anyone experienced this?

I had a similar problem. I had my speedometer quit several times then come back on during a long trip. I later realized each time it was happening after a quick sharp right hand turn, I think this was causing the tranny fluid to splash up onto the sensor? I removed the speedo sensor and there was a buildup of metal particles on it, the same type of stuff you see on your drain plug. I cleaned the sensor and replaced the trans fluid and have not had a problem since. I think the metal particles sticking to the sensor caused it to malfunction.

My speedo has quit working 2 or 3 times over the last few years. Always starts working again.

Mine does not work for the first five minute of riding. I have not noticed it not working during a ride after the initial warm up.

my NineR has went thru 4 speed sensors.

the 4th still cuts in/out and then some times it just sweeps back and forth.

I gave up on sensors after the 4th.

I have the 5th, a brand new one in my garage. It don't even think its worth my time installing it.

PM me if you want a regulator / filter Barker... I think I have enough parts left over to build another.
