I read on my Uly's triple tail that the max load is 11 lbs. maximum weight. I take that as to be the tail itself and not the grab bar attachment (which I would think is more.) Does anyone know what the max rating is of this fehling rear rack?

rack

caribou case

And if it will hold a Caribou (1550 pelican box) that is 35 L and weighs in at about 10 lbs. 4 oz. empty.

I plan on putting my rain gear (which weighs in at 6 lbs. for coat, pants, boot, and gloves) and my lunch and water going in it along with riding gloves and glasses and such when stopped. I think it would be between 17 -20 lbs. or so (plus the weight of the rack.) I see that it has a support bar that goes to the underside of the seat which should give it substantial strength I would think.
Feel free to chime in with opinions, questions, examples or pictures! Thanks!

I'd have to look, but i believe the stock uly topcase says something retarded like 15lbs max. I say blame the lawyers, i don't remember the last time it was empty : )

It is not that the weight is a problem, it is where it is located more I think.

I say that as the bag/rack is MORE then sturdy enough to hold a yellow top Optima, HOWEVER.....

Try letting out the clutch a little quicker then normal while doing so, trying to keep from getting cut off by a guy trying to Compton you on the right at the light, and lets just say stunting is fun in traffic!!

I don't think the lawyers want the thing loaded with weight, because if you think the wheel comes up easy before, try a battery that far up and aft of the rear axle!!

WOW

just my .02

I have this rack on mine with a GIVI E450 top case on it. It had a sticker with the load rating on it which is now gone, but as I recall it was somewhere around the 11 pound figure. I substituted quality grade 8 mounting bolts using red loctite to mount it. The bolts shipped with the rack appeared a little questionable. The rack itself appears to be a very durable construct and should be capable of supporting a substantial load. I was quite pleased with it's construction.

Like I said, I know it will support 65 lbs in the case, for 46 miles of slab, on one wheel most of the time................

yea those Optima Yellow tops weigh a lot more than a standard battery of the same size. Almost fell over when I pulled mine off the shelf.
