I've heard of people on BadWeb using the Pit Bull stand to lift the front end of their Uly, so I picked one up the other day.

I tried it out today with less than happy results:
It came with a "Standard" peg and they sold me a #2 peg to use with the Uly, but it didn't fit. I went back and they sold me a #7 peg which kind of, sort of fits.

So I used the stand to pick up the front end today, but then it folded over on itself and the bike fell over (on top of the Ducati, no less).

So,... what pin is everyone using, and how are the darn things supposed to work?

Thanks in advance,

-Ron

Ouch....That must of made you mad! THe pin diameter on my Trex Stand measures .717"....I know you have the Pit Bull so it does not help for which # to buy. Trex at .717 is snug and a perfect fit.

Can't recommend using the front stand without the rear as it is very unstable. Can be done but have seen several wobble and fall.

Best of luck.

Never use a front stand alone^^^^

I guess if you get the bike jacked decently you can use the front stand then.

My stand can lift from fork bottoms or when converted from the steering stem as you describe.

Almost seems more stable when lifting from the fork bottoms, but I haven't used it on the uly yet.

Thanks for the info. The pin I have is pretty loose, but I didn't think it was too loose for the stand to work.

It was on the rear stand, but when the front hinge buckled it also turned the forks and was enough to unweight one side of the rear stand and topple over. It made me plenty mad, but at least it happened slowly enough that I was able to grab the Uly and somewhat control the fall.

Packdog, as I had my Uly up on the Pitbulls for the last two days I may be of help. First secure the bars/forks with straps and attach to a hanging hook. These don't have to be weight bearing, they're just for stability. Right the Uly and adjust the straps so it stands vertical with no lean. Put it up on the rear stand and tighten the straps. Attatch the front stand and steadily lift. Immediately tighten up the straps and give it another once over. I use a regular lift/jack under the muffler to aid in getting the rear rim/tire out as my rear stand slides forward. I didn't drop the bike and managed to get a front and rear tire for $247 installed and he threw in a surplus front rotor too! NUTS

The correct steering stem pin is a close fit. I am not at home, so I cannot check the number. The correct pin cannot pivot loose and will not let the top of the stand collapse (inward or outward). With the pin fitted into the stem, the horizontal bar should not be able to wiggle.
