What exactly dose the race ECM change Does it change ignition timing, fuel mapping what else? Can I copy info from race ecm than save it to stock ecm and sell race ecm?

Does it change ignition timing,

Yes.

fuel mapping what else?

Yes. I understand compensation algorithms are different but are not accessible (hardware bound.)

Can I copy info from race ecm than save it to stock ecm

Yes with afore mentioned exception(s?)

and sell race ecm?

I wouldn't.

No, you can't run the race EEPROM (from the race ECM) in a stock ECM.

I was just looking to do that, as well.

Here's the LINK: http://www.buelletinboard.com/forums/showthread.ph p?t=6699

Yes, you can copy the timing and fuel maps from a race ECM to the stock ECM.

Just don't try to burn the race ECM EEPROM file to the stock ECM. Won't blow anything up, but when you discover your bike won't run or runs bizarrely, you will have to reflash with your backup.

Yeah...if you flash a stock ECM with the Race EEPROM...the fan goes haywire, and strange things occur.

Don't ask how I know. : )

But the Race maps work just fine. : )

From what I have been able to gather, from multiple sources, however, is that though you can run the race maps, the algorithms in the EEPROM itself (non-programmable) are a bit different. So I would not say there is no advantage to buying a race ECM. It is out of my discretionary budget however.

Don't bother. The race ECM is designed for the race pipe. The race ECM disables the muffler valve, so you will loose performace as it won't open. Not sure if enabling it again in ECM spy would help. How about you put a can on it first, then worry about the ECM? : )

And/or just reprogram your stock ECM. It can handle quite a bit more advance in much of the mid range.

To answer the question:

I run a Race ECM, Race Filter and a stock muffler with the muffler valve wired open.

As already mentioned by others, the Muffler Servo is not functional with the Race ECM. Therefore, my muffler valve cable is simply flipped around to the back side of the servo pulley to hold the valve open.

Smoooooth throttle response, no stumbles or hiccups, great idle, no ping, no problems.

ECM-Spy was not available when my bike was set up. I will keep what I have until all of the bugs with putting the Race Data into a Stock ECM, along with reconfiguring the Muffler Servo controls at low RPM are figured out.

I keep reading updates about the ECM-Spy progress, and the future looks good.

Have fun!
