Sold my '06 in May with 28K miles, just got my '09 a few days ago. 160 miles, 45 MPG on the first tank, flawless fuel injection, less heat, fan only on when I shut the bike off. Love the Zumo, waiting for delivery of the new-style luggage. Not to mention it's much easier to u-turn. The improvements made it worth it.

Very interesting, apparently Buell is tweaking the ECM then? I wonder if the '08 fellas can benefit from the change?

The footpegs are grippier (higher stitchton??):-).
You can check out the Zumo on garmin.com- it's a 550. It's an amazing device- worth the investment if you use it. Your dealer should have the new P&A catalog- tons of great stuff- if not, send me a pm and I'll get you the part numbers.
The new luggage looks to be more off-road style, is significantly more rugged with double latches. They still offer the older style luggage like the stuff on the XT.
As far as the ECM goes, I can check and see if there's an '09 stock download in the Digital Technician. I've put on 260 miles so far, several 50 mile trips here in New Mexico and the only time the fan has come on is when I stop and shut the bike off. No snarfing or burping either.

Murrae,
How much smaller are the other bags you are running compared to the originals ?
They don't look big enough to hold a full face helmet, which I have had to do with mine -- but they sure do look nice.

Last time I asked my dealer couldn’t download the instructions, but that was about 2 weeks ago. I will be there tomorrow, I will inquire again. I know what the unit looks like, I have the normal Garmin one, I was just curious how its setup for the Buell’s. Like how it mounts and plugs in.

Lime, from what I can tell in the pictures, the top case is bigger and looks to hold at least 2 full face helms.

Those issues must be hit or miss. My '06 Uly doesn't have any of those problmes. Neither did my '05 Firebolt.

Froggy,
I don't run a top case, just the original side bags. I did see how it mentioned the 2 helmets in the top box, but no mention of the side case capacity leads to believe they would not hold one.
Still prefer the latest look though, even with a little less capacity.

The Zumo mounts on the right switch housing using a RAM mount and can be oriented to the rider's vision and away from glare when necessary. The power comes from the power outlet on the dash and you will need to use the connectors or solder the wires like I did behind the flyscreen. The power cord plugs into the rear of the standard Zumo mount and is hidden behind the unit. There is also a weather cover for the electronic hookup for when the unit isn't mounted. The unit blows the Quest away- it can be fully operated with gloves on by using the touch screen. It will work with XM, MP3's, Bluetooth, etc. plus tons of memory and an SD card slot. You can scroll with your finger from your location to a new one, tap the screen then tap "go" in a few seconds you have a route. Very similar to the apple phone.
The Outdoorsman sidecases look to be about 60% of the width of the Hepco-Becker units, but the top case is twice as big. The top will hold two full-face helmets. I'll know more when I get my hands on a set. I'm hoping the mounts are the same for both sets. If they are, I'll be able to change luggage as the need dictates (my wife has an '06 Uly with the full set of luggage).
The '09 has no low speed driveability issues so far. If you have an '08 with issues have you gotten the free download from your dealer? It solves most if not all of the problems. There is no service bulletin- the dealer needs to hook your bike up to the Digital Tech and the download will be made available based on your VIN number. If you're near Santa Fe I can hook you up.

The '08 owners report them.

Murrae, last I checked with the local dealer, the mothership forced an upgrade to the Digital Technician such that they could not apply EEPROM updates from a later year to an earlier. Is this true? Is there a workaround, since ECMSpy is not yet rigged for '08+?

There is an upgrade specific to the '08 models.
I haven't used the Digital Tech for awhile, but we used to just enter a VIN number from a newer model into the system. We did this when we upgraded the '06 airbox to the '07 unit on '06 models. If the protocol has been changed so that the Digital Tech reads the VIN automatically this won't work. I would be careful entering a newer VIN into an older model- i.e. '09 to '07- due to the technical changes between model years. We downloaded the '08 upgrade to a friends '08 Ulysses and he reported that the gas mileage went up significantly and most of the driveability issues went away.
