Since i've decided I "need" a new 2009 RoadGlide, and "She Who Must Be Obeyed" put her foot down at "You don't need three bikes!" I have sold the Uly. Went to a very nice guy from Glendale, Ca. he's been lurking here, but I don't know his sig name.

He's currently riding from Texas to California, gonna wander across northern New Mexico, and should be home by Sunday.

When he get's there, since he "claims" to be a shutterbug, let's demand a ride report with pictures.

I don't know what i'm gonna do for fun now, i'm thinking I need a scooter just to play with, and since they're less money than most bikes, maybe I can get away with it! After all, it's easier to apologize than it is to ask permission.

In conclusion, the uly is one of the least understood, most under appreciated bikes on the market. Very difficult to think of another bike that offers the flexibility and grin inducing handling in so many different situations. I'm already missing it!

Why not sell the 3rd unnamed bike? Short of it being the first sportster to come off the assembly line, i would of kept the Uly. Then again not sure why you want a Road Glide, but to each there own : )

I have a Uly and a Road Glide. Both great bikes for what they are for. As great as the Uly is, if your out for a long ride without plans to head off asphalt the Glide is a nice comfy ride. It's no Uly in the twisties but it does better than you would think.

I love my Uly, but if the ride is basically slab, I'll take the Road Thing. More comfortable. For anything and everything else, it's the Uly.

You may be the first - and only - person in history to sell a Uly to get a scooter. : )}

I totally feel your pain and, if I ever had to buy a Harley it would be the fantastic Roadglide. About the wife.... when mine tore me up for buying a third bike I politely pointed out that the day she stops buying $2000 handbags (She has nine)!! is the day I stop buying bikes. She had no reply to that one but several doors were slammed on her way out to sulk.

$2000 dollar handbags....

9 two thousand dollar handbags.....

Daayuum you lucky guy!

If my wife had nine two thousand dollar handbags, slamming doors would be the least of my worries.

I would have to build me a bigger gayrage to hold all my toys.

Way to go Dick!

"You may be the first - and only - person in history to sell a Uly to get a scooter."

I didn't sell the Uly to get a scooter, i sold it to get the RoadGlide, the scooter will be bike number three, but it's not really a motorcycle, and besides, she can ride it too, and it's really just for around the neighborhood, and it was only a couple thousand dollars, and look, it fits in the shed, so it won't be taking space in the garage.....

How'd that all sound, I'm practicing my defense

I did just the opposite. Sold a Roadglide to buy a ULY. Don’t get me wrong, the glide was a great bike! I put 92,000 miles on the old girl and rode it to all 48 lower states. But lets face it compared to the ULY the glide highly resembles riding in a car. It's a very comfy ride, but where is the grin factor.

I dunno' - I think I'd have to go with the Street Glide. Still has the (smaller) fairing and windshield, and the same luggage, but looks a little meaner (which is important if someone sees a scooter parked next to it).

California-

If you get a scooter-- the ruckus may make you feel like you are on the Uly?

My wife saw one of these in a parking lot and said-- that looks like your buell-- but for short people (but she used the derogatory word for short people)

I was laughing so hard.

I rented a streetglide last fall for a three day jaunt in the mountains of CA, it was all black with very little chrome. My only gripe was the low windshield which causes buffeting, but this is a easy fix. If I had to buy a harley, this would be it! IMHO I think it is the best looking harley and it handles pretty good too! There is something to be said about blasting across the desert with your feet up listening to the T-Hip on the radio! Very different from carving corners but almost as fun...

I ride the Uly and a Road King. Had rented a Road Glide trough the Fly & Ride program last summer to ride from Milwaukee to Sturgis and back. The Road Glide is a very nice Touring bike. Too bad it is not sold over here in Europe or I would think about adding one to the others. Have fun with her. Ride safe Werner

I bought the scooter as a "pit bike" and commuter bike. It's perfect for riding in the city. No clutch, no shifting, and 85mpg.

.... not sold in Europe? Dang! Why not I wonder. I bet someone, somewhere is importing them though come to think of it I have never seen one here in central Europe or in England.

We have some over here but it was only imported to the Netherlands and UK until a couple years ago. There are some grey imports and left overs from GI's stationed in Europe. Harley says the styling of the fairing is not to European taste. I like the bike and think due to the frame mounted fairing it is much more stable then the Electra Glide.

Dnveloman;

The Big Ruckus is at, or near, the top of my list. I figure with a pair of aggressive tread tires, I could do the same dirt roading that the Uly did!

Ok, the new owner is signed up here and swears he's going to post a ride report about the blitz, he made what was once going to be a leisurely ride from DFW to LA, into a high speed blast!

Watch for a posting from RedShiftQuasars, he did the ride in about 48 hours.

Dick and Werner, given the recent MV Agusta acquisition, look for a full line of HD's coming to Europe soon....

This must be good news for us I think, though maybe it just means that my local dealer will dedicate even less space and thought to Buells..... call me Mr Pessimist but Pessimism and realism go hand in hand me thinks.

Yep, V_Thunder, but with the low windscreen, and I have to say, I really like the newer flat paint jobs (I have a Black Denim Street Bob).

Or were you talking about the Honda?
