From the '08 Buell product announcements: http://www.buell.com/en_us/news_events/newsdetail. asp?news_id=1237

"Heated hand grips are now standard equipment on the 2008 Ulysses. The grips are rated at 18 watts per side on the High setting and 11 watts per side on the Low setting. "

I'm planning to install them on my '06 before winter comes. The thicker grips look like an improvement over the thin stockers. Anyone put the Buell heated grips on an 06 or 07? Any tips or tricks? Is the factory fit worth the extra money over cheaper, non-OEM options?

U-Man - take care over there (but based on your profile photo, it looks like you're ready!). We'll be looking for you on the road back in the States. Come home soon, get on your Buell, and drop us all a line.

@ Hooper,
Installed them last fall to my 07. If you follow the instructions, you should not have a problem. Just make sure you cover all the body parts when you drill the holes into the handlebar. Drilling is a little pain, cause the material is pretty hard. And yes, they get real hot.
If you purchase them from Chicago HD, you will receive a 20 % discount.
Ride safe, Werner

Vielen Dank, Werner...didn't realize I needed to do some drilling to install the Buell grips. Yee haw! Keine Furcht! Frankly, I don't mind any grip that gets TOO hot: you can always it turn it off.

Also, do you know of any good bike rental places in southern Germany?

I have the Poly Heaters on mine. They get so hot on high, that with winter gloves and two wraps of bacon they still too hot to handle. Heated grips are soooo sweet though!

I put the heated grips on my 07. It was a tremendous improvement. The installation isn't very difficult, but the drill bit that they provide to drill through the left side handlebar is a piece of crap. If you're going to DYI, get a decent drill bit capable of cutting through steel. I think it's 1/8" but cannot recall precisely.
