I have the stock one on mine and I am considering getting the 4 inches. I stand 6'5" and want to know if it is worth it. What is your experience?

Well...hell - I don't think I could make 6'5" standing on a chair! (5'8") So allowing for the 7" ht difference we could extrapolate a rough approximation of an answer. A windshield change by itself wont do it. Ya need the Palmer brackets ($99). Best cost effective investment I've made yet...and I've made plenty on the Uly. I have a ZG+4 and a Parabellum 16" I trade off depending on the ride. On long trips (2000 mi or more) I use the Para - a little better wind / rain protection & @ 16" not to much sail area to appreciably affect the handling & I get NO buffeting. Assuming your width is proportional to your height - a Para is about 4-5 " wider than the ZG and may offer a bit more side slippage before if grabs your riding gear. They come in 22 - 24 & 28". The 22" & the brackets may just do the trick. Iain can help with the adjustment advice. He's very helpful. Another option would be the 24" which you could cut if too tall - hard to add " to a screen. (Don't know what Para return policy is) I prefer the way the ZG looks compared to the Para - but like the xtra protection of the Para over the ZG. Choices/ choices - Thats why I got both. I think you'll wonder where all the wind went if you buy the brackets. 'chow' j

I'm 6'3" and have the Buell tall windshield. Works just fine for me, but I do sometimes wonder what I might be missing with something wider or a tad higher. It looks just about right too.

I have the buell tall windshield with the palmer brackets. Am 6 foot the increased height I gained with the brackets makes for a perfect ride. Prior to the brackets the tall windshield did make a notable difference.

I figuring to use it highway speed when I am forced to lean forward. I rather be out on the backroads but to get to some I need the highway, and I catch a lot of wind. Your comments have been helpful (of course more to think about).
thanks

I'm 6'1", but it's all in my back...so, I bought the bigger windscreen, which put the wind right into my helmet, buffets my helmet, and at anything above 75 mph, buffets my head so much I can't see straight. Then I got the really big (21', I think, with the flyscreen mounted right into it) windscreen from cee-bailey's - it's nicely made, but it makes a booming noise at speed, and it's kind of weird having that plastic right in front of my face. I will admit that helps a lot when it's cold. Because of this, I ride with no windshield at all most of the time, not even the short one. And I was all ready to give up and get an Adventure when I read Jphish's praise of the Palmer brackets...I'll let you know when I get them.

This makes me feel better because I have not noticed any serious/deal-breaking issues with wind on my two years of Uly-ridin'. I put 200 miles on it last weekend, mostly highway, and thought it was just peachy other than a bit of buffeting here and there (it ain't no R1200RT or Electra Glide Ultra Classic!), which generally reminds me that I'm on a naked bike with luggage. I'm not planning on making any changes.

I just returned from a 965 mile trip where a big windshield would have probably done me in. I have a truly Big Ass Windshield that I use in the winter time, but I have no desire to block any wind in the summer. With full gear on, two up, 95F+, it was as hot as I want to get. I want all of the air flow I can get. When you stick your hand out into the airstream at 80 mph and don't feel any difference in temperature, it is hot out!

I'm 6' and don't have issues with buffeting with the stock windshield. I have tried the Buell tall one, and it makes my helmet shake so bad that I couldn't even see the road. The one I tried belongs to a friend of mine who is 6'3" and it works great for him. We even tried swapping several helmets around. His complaint is wind noise.

I built my BAW for winter use and it does its job very well. It sure is a hindrance when the temperature is above 70F though.

PS - The brackets also appreciably reduce wind noise as well. You've got 3 adjustments up and 3 forward to back. Takes about 5 mins (or less) to change the setting with an allen and 10mm wrench. after you plunk around a bit you can dial in the right setting for the chosen screen. Cured one of the 3 most annoying 'qualities' of the Uly... still working on the other 2. After 6000mi, still enjoy this iconic machine more than any of the other 8 bikes (cruiser, tourer, dualsport) I've owned.

i am 5' 10" and my bike came stock with the tall wind shield. i commute 60 miles a day, and earlier in the year when it was cold in the mornings it was nice to hide behind and it helps keep the bugs off my helmet visor.
now it summer and i have it off. would like a short one too
ullys are like transformers.....luggage one day no luggage, the next windshield one day no windshield the next.
my co workers always comment on how versatile the bike is.

I just got a Cee Bailey, light smoke tint, 12" from the painted portion to the top. It's fine up to 65-70 MPH, then the wind on my helmet is about ridiculous. Any takers out there? $90 plus shipping.

Mr Palmer in the UK has now designed, produced and is selling a much larger windsheild via ebay

I am 6' and have the 4" higher Zero Gravity dark tint, which although looking great, directs the air directly into my face.

Have just located a XT type touring screen and will be trying that when it arrives
