The VDSTS cable has a "dongle" in it to work with the software. He still has some cables and I have his email. I order the cables and they are top notch. Plus it is free for non-commercial use. The "dongle" is hard soldered into the cable end on VDSTS. The ECMSPY cable is simple to make. Cost is far less than what is spent for VDSTS. ECMSpy requires the use of FDDI USB cable to allow it to talk to the ECU.   Teeps Posted on Friday, July 18, 2008 - 02:23 pm:        Actually a TTL to RS232 converter is needed to mate the Uly ECM to a PC. This can be done by either USB or DB9 connection. Both will require a converter. A draw back to DB9 is they require an external 5 volt source to power the chip. The USB version does not. I made my own DB9 adapter (total cost $25) I had my reasons.
