Hey all. I'm getting a really funky feeling at times when taking a corner at moderate speeds. By moderate I mean, not omg-fast, just a bit on the spirited side.

Anyways, occasionally I get a strange feeling from the rear wheel as if it's sliding a bit as it would if it lost traction. But it comes back in really quick so it's not a loss of traction. It just seems to "slip" a bit as if you hit a slight dip or something.

My tires are the stock dunlops, but from what I've read those issues are mainly with the front. Tire pressure and tread are ok, and my suspension is set properly to my weight.

Is this a symptom of a bad bearing?

I got a little "wallowy" feeling in the rear. It almost felt like something was loose for just a millisecond. I found that if I pushed the preload higher, the feeling went away.

I have my preload set really high right now. The problem with it is that the setting has soaked up much of my shock travel. I am going to see if I can bump up the compression damping and dial down the preload a little to give myself a little more shock travel.

Right now it feels almost like a rigid.

I think what you're feeling is the suspension compressing mid turn.

Hm. I'll dial it in a few more clicks and see what happens. Perfect night for ride through Nashville.

Check your rear tire pressure cold.

You're local? We need to ride. What part of town do you live in?

I'm planning on riding Sunday afternoon in Leiper's fork.

I'm in East Nash near 5-points. I'm down for riding Sunday man, never been to Leipers on the bike. Lemme know.

My standard Dunlops have done 3,500 miles and there is a definite vague, unsettled feeling from the back end. I checked bearings, swing-arm and wheel spindle for security before deciding it was the tyre. I'll be going for a pair of Michelin Road 2CT's very soon I think

+1 to FB.

I've gotten that same feeling and wasn't quite sure what it was either. I realized I still had the suspension set to my 'winter' settings - I soften everything up when the whether is consistently below 55F or so. I reset the suspension to my 'summer' settings and everything's golden.

Depending on your weight and mileage on the bike, you rear shock might be toast.

Rebound damping can cause the rear to "pogo", which can feel like a wallow. Inadequate preload can cause a similar feeling.

Having the wrong spring on the shock can cause a number of issues. Preload can't adjust for a weak spring, you will simply end up topping it out.

These bikes handle EXTREMELY well if they are set up properly, but it takes some trial and error. Start with the book settings, and work from there. Changing ONE thing at a time. Ride the same road over and over. If you aren't sure what something does, make a BIG change (but measure what you change) so you can feel the extremes.

Don't fall into the camp that "soft" is bad. A hard, track based suspension will not handle as well on the street, so don't make things too stiff. It's a big 500lb bike...it's supposed to be a little bit soft.

I'm from Nashville too, and if I can get a porch pass, I'll be riding this weekend. I'm busy next weekend, doing a track day at Nashville Superspeedway the following Saturday, and busy the weekend after that...so this is my last free weekend to do any street riding for nearly a month.

+1 on that. I have chalked it up to the tread pattern on the tires. I to have had that "unsettled" feeling from the back end and yes low-sided it once to boot. The good ol' D616's dont seem to like the corners a whole lot in my eyes. On the other hand I have gotten 5000 miles out of the rear tire as well.

If you are still running 616's, they are scary in the turns..back end feels like it is about to step out on ya under the least power..

I'm detecting a theme.

D616's suck balls.

Worn D616's suck balls more.

Come ride Sunday, Green, we'll get it squared away (unless it's the tires).

+1 on the 616's. Bike was squirrely on tight turns at even moderate speed. Flat rear gave me the excuse I needed to install the Syncs. Problem solved. Bigger grin.

48 hour film fest. Im working until we are finish or I drop dead. we started yesterday @ 7p after working all day. Estimated wrap is sometime around sunday.

I wish I were scooting right now, but Im off to go shoot the the "Sharting scene". Nothing like making a movie from scratch in 48 hours.

I have to get out this weekend, I'm booked up for the next three.

I had diablo stradas, great tire, and it started happening. The tire was at the end of its life though. New Avon storms and all is great.

So I got new Scorpian Syncs mounted yesterday. Got the wheel bearings replaced as well just because, as they looked pretty rough visibly (extreme rust around the sleeves).

No more squirrels. Thing rides smooth as silk now. I guess the 616s really do suck.

That photo is uncanny.
I saw it on ADVrider too.

I think it's the focus but it looks like a close up of a scale model-the sort you see on a model electric railway.

I finally wore out my front D616 and now have a new pair of Pilot Road CT2s-decent tyres at last!
They seem good so far,I've only had them for 400 miles but I'm glad to hear other people are rating them for Ulys (Hello Muppet).

PR2's are outstanding. I have over 3,000 miles on mine. They are great. I think I might even get 4,000 out of a rear.

I'm contemplating doing a two rear to one front the front tire is wearing so well.
