Thanks, EGlider...I love articles like this that I'd never necessarily find on my own. I loved Erik's point of view on touring, but mainly on his POV on LEARNING: take a good initial course, then get as much experience as you can, then get more training. It's true of almost anything, but with bikes it's vital. I'm of a mixed opinion about his dodging the question of road accidents. Good lord, hopefully it's true...maybe he hasn't had one. I beefed it on a deer earlier this year and learning from rider accidents and crashes is sort of an obsession.

Now I want the t-shirt Erik's wearing.

I rode to work and post-work the last two days and ended up explaining the Uly (and the Buell) to a few people. When they say they've never heard of Buell, I basically say:

"Yeah, Buell is essentially a sport bike company, but has all kinds of unique innovations that make it very different. This one [the Uly] is designed to be a sport bike, a touring bike, and an off-road bike."

"Aha...wow. Who makes them?"

Just to get them off my back so I can get riding:

"Harley-Davidson owns a majority of the company, and the engine is based on a Harley engine."

"Ohhhhhhh! Awesome man!"

"Yeah, um, watch your toes..."

Vrooooooom!

"When you are inside your Hummer with tinted narrow windows, a big GPS screen, dashboard and controls, face it, you might as well be at home on the couch. "

Yeah that pretty much sums it up. Dozing on the couch aka asleep at the wheel.

I get these obscure articles by setting a Google Alert to "Buell Motorcycle". It then sends them to my email. You can create google alerts for anything that interests you.
I also personalize Google News with Buell Motorcycle and see the same things.
Either way, you don't really have to look for these articles because Google does. Remember how I alerted everyone on BadWeb a few weeks ago that Harley was buying MV Agusta. That was from a small town Italian newspaper article that Google picked out of the ether and sent me.
Here are the links so that any of you can personalize and get the type of news or info you have a fancy for.
