I had one fitted for a few months (touratech), then the base started bending and it started getting loose - not impressed. Make my own now with much thicker gauge stainless. (Message edited by strada on July 13, 2008) | ||

TT and this white thing... LOL!! An Idea that I have done with my BMW and Uly that is 5-10$. Put your bike on the stand/lift, take off the side stand and take it to a welder. The welder can put on a nice square of diamond plate in 5 mins and spray paint black .... SOLVED!!! Not 40$ LOL!!! Chas | ||

I had one,... it didnt work if you are not on the ULY. That is what I get for trying to use ULY parts on a non ULY. It rattled off because the CityX kickstand has a smaller foot than the ULY. Need to redo the metal shim piece. Other thing, replacing it is an absolute bear as you will with use, over time, grind down the small fasteners so that they loose the hex head indentation ... making it difficult to remove, replace when they start to rattle.  Their bash plate works well though | ||

What brand beer? I find a good Rolling Rock can works best. BTW - if you watched the "Tripping On Two Wheels" episode today, you saw the riders "sleeping" on their Ulys - laying back all the way on the bike with no feet on the ground. I told my girlfriend right then that I wouldn't trust MY '06 sidestand to hold ME up! I never got a notice for the recall on that. Should I have? I bought mine in Summer 2006. | ||

I used high temp silicone adhesive on the bottom of the foot, and loctite on all the screws. Also replaces the pivot pin with a shoulder bolt to prevent the Buell dangle. I did this right after it fell of the factory design while at idle.  No problems in 15k miles.  | ||

Treadmarks, Can I get a pic of that setup? I mount and dismount using the pegs and I have noticed that my side stand is starting to get loose. I also two up quite a bit and use it as a stabilizer for my wife getting on and off of the bike with me on it. Just seems like a lot of weight on the side stand and it is starting to show. Your setup might be a good alternative. | ||

Can I get a pic of that setup? Here ya go! I adjust the tension as necessary at oil change, and will replace the bolt at the first sign of wear. With this setup, the sidestand is either up or down. No more dangle!     (Message edited by treadmarks on July 14, 2008) | ||

Slowride, I too mount and dismount using the pegs but do it from the right side ever since I got the ULy about eighteen months ago. The "trick" is to quickly get your center of gravity beyond the center of the bike. I turn the bars completely to the left before mounting. I weigh too much to trust the side stand mounting from the left. | ||

I keep an aluminum square in my back pocket for a kickstand foot. When I had my gutters redone I found it in the scrap pile. It's unobtrusive, free, and works like a charm. | ||

The "foot" is a must for any/all conditions. Keeps you from having to search for a flattened beer can in close proximity to your intended parking place. It's about the only thing that hasn't fallen off the bike... yet. I'm surprised the Buell factory hasn't discovered the benefits of locktite. Anyway - a great addition for dirt or hot asphalt since I mount from the left side foot peg. Unless of course the peg is wet or muddy...but thats another story. Still waiting for shock to be replaced - but heck, it's only been 2 weeks out of our 8 week NW summer ! Hopefully today ?! Ride safe. j | ||

I got tired of my feet slippin' off all the time from the vibes, rain, or just poor placement. I put a set of those foot pegs (purchased from American Sport Bike) on last week Saturday before a 170 mile jaunt with a friend who rides a brand new V Strom 1000 with RUBBER footpegs?!?!? When I got back it looked like my dog chewed the hell out of the soles of my boots!  They work fantastic!!!!!! Not as long as the stock but that's OK by me - now my leg doesn't hit the peg at stop lights (I place my left foot down and keep my right on the rear brake pedal.) And I for one like the 1" rise, I find it a bit more comfortable.... | ||

Why would you spend $$ for a bolt on foot? The kickstand is steel. Cut a larger piece of flat bar or sheet, tack weld it on and you're set for life. Maybe $10 if you have to pay someone to weld it. |
