Hi All,

I have searched around and not had too much luck so I thought I'd post my question.

I see a lot of discussion about more dirtworthy tires for the Uly, but not much in the way of answers. The main feedback seems to be Distanzia's or MT60s, but I'm not too excited about the idea of squeezing the smaller size onto my rear wheel.

So... Has anybody tried an MT60 front with a Scorpion Sync rear? Thoughts on how well this would work to help out in loose/sandy conditions? Would it stick okay on the road or is there too much of a mismatch between the MT60 stick & the SS?

thanks!

-gabe

The Syncs are terrible off road. I have seen a few posts from folks that like the Distanzias and had no problem with the smaller size. Haven't tried them myself yet.

The rear Distanzia fits fine; go for it!

The MT60R (the R is important!) sticks well on road, it's the same rubber as the scorpion sync.

I'm waiting to go through a couple of other tyres, then I have an MT60R front waiting to try the same setup (MT60R front + sync rear).

The uly feels great when you can rail the front wheel in a groove and let the rear hang out. But it's soo heavy, with that fat little front wheel, hard suspension, and short rake (all relative to a real dirt bike I mean) - when you loose the front on dirt you're going down real quick, so my logic is that any extra grip on the front is a good thing :-)

A big/heavy/powerful bike like the Uly will always spin the rear to some extent.
The scorpion sync is what keeps me in-check.
I'm terrified to think of the speeds and violence in transitions between grip/lack of grip the Uly could achieve with a real knobbie on the back (for example).

I had the Mt-60s through the winter for mud slugging and dirty riding, they worked great.
Now on the Distinzas, I dont like them as much as the Sync's for dirt running. They want to plane out at the 45-52 mph zone on dirt, gravel, shale and hard pack, Not confidence inspiring. I will put the syncs back on in short order. There is drifting and then there is sliding, and I would not a wash out in traction on dirt at 50mph.
