After some research, a couple of conversions with Iain, I ordered the windshield brackets. Let me say that this is one of the most pleasant experiences I have ever had when it comes to ordering any motorcycle parts period. I received the brackets in about 4 days, and installed them this morning. went for a test drive on the interstate (highest setting, neutral angle on windscreen) WHAT A DIFFERENCE. This was money well spent, the workmanship is superior, install was straight forward and took about a hour. Hats off to Iain, you have a winner here. | ||

these are the brackets that push the plexi away from the fly screen correct.does it cut out the wind turbulance noise. the tall killed me and even the short isn't a whole lot better. think of taking the plexi off all together. | ||

Buelldualsport...you might recognize Iain's gallery photo #9, it's the 06 Ulysses ya sold me.  Palmer brackets IMO are awesome on the road and track. 1st rate product and Iain's customer service is 2nd to none! | ||

Substituted my ZG+4 screen for a 16" parabellum on a 4000 mi trip to Yellowknife and back... with Iain's brackets. No problems at all...at least with the brackets. Other than a blown rear shock, kickstand deciding to detatch itself from the bike, Uly starting to 'stumble' in a serious thunderstorm - all went well. Got me home, so coulda been worse. At least I was relatively comfortable behind the handle bars - The brackets should be standard equipment for any long trip. j | ||

I second that; Ian is great to deal with and the brackets work. I got the tall Buell shield, highest, mid position. No more pressure on the shoulders - one of the best upgrades I've done, period! | ||

Another happy customer. I originally had mine installed with a CB+4 (similar to the Buell Tall) and it was great. After my screen was damaged in a sand storm, I replaced it with a ZG Sport Touring screen and it's even better with less buffeting and noise. | ||

wind noise for me was a killer with the tall wind screen. traded it for the lower one with chrisgant and still got some noise but not as bad. took it off saturday and i have to say it made a lot of difference. no more noise than i get with the m2 which made the ride alot more comfortable. has anyone that's been using the brackets noticed any difference in wind noise. i know chris rides with a cloth jacket so it catch's wind like a parachute and that's why he deals with the noise just so it cuts down on the wind but i ride most of the time with a leather jacket unless it's raining than i put the rain gear on which you get noise from the flapping around. is the noise less with a wind screen that's taller than what buell offers. how is the 16" with and without the bracket jphish. | ||

Nevrenuf - The 16" Parabellum & ZG+4 w/o the brackets are still pretty noisey. I wear textile gear and that likely contributes. Ear plugs help reduce the noise significantly. WITH the brackets, at least a 50% reduction in both noise & buffeting - suspect its the decrease in the low pressure area behind the screen that the brackets provide. The brackets are now a permanent fixture on the Uly - I like the ZG for day trips - but swap out for the Parabellum for the longer ones. I like having some adjustment to compensate for conditions along with better wind / rain / bug protection. (I'm 5'8" & have both screens all the way up - ZG in the middle notch - Parabellum all the way back) No noticeable handling problems due to increased 'sail' area. Though I'd suspect a full size Parabellum might be a little less friendly even with the brackets. I've farkled this Uly out with a long list of functional stuff (Kaoko throttle control, bar risers, oil cooler protection, new model clutch cable bracket, CRG levers etc etc) - comfort wise, this is Best $100 I spent on the bike so far - if I could only make 1 modification to the Uly...this would be it. Nevrenuf - Actually...now that I think about it - probably more like 75% reduction with the brackets & taller wind screen of your choice. Not sure about the stock windscreen and brackets...never tried that combo. jphish | ||

Are most of you guys using the "tall" windshield with the the Strada bracket? I'm about 6'2", if anyone who's approximately the same height has some feedback on what windshield and bracket settings you've found work best. Tipsy | ||

I'm 6' and using the tall Buell screen I have it set at mid-height, tilted fully forward. Works for all speeds and conditions. For your height I would suggest full height with mid-tilt. | ||

I am 6'2", have both the tall and standard Buell screens. I have tried every position with both screens. I run with the short(standard) screen, all the way down and tilted in. Wind now hits the top of my shoulders. No buffeting, but I do get a booming from air pressure around my neck (Shoei RF1000). If I put my hand in front of my neck, the booming goes away. I tried the chin screen for my helmet, little or no reduction in boomin. I built a little flap on the front of my helmet, did a little but not enough. However, the booming is much less if I wear a neck gaiter. Its amazing how very small changes in airflow can produce significant differences. | ||

I am 6'-0" but with a long torso. I did not try the buell short yet since I am happy with the buell tall (without flip). I have set the brackets at the highest level with the "middle" tilt setting. I am getting a little high frequency buffeting at the top of my helmet. I will watch with great interest as Iain develops a screen to work in conjunction with the brackets. Gsilver, I had the same problem, but for me it was if I was wearing my jacket or not. With just a t-shirt the booming under my helmet was unbearable, but if I blocked the bottom of my helmet with my hand it went away. The little shoei chin guard helps a little. My new Re'vit devil is so comfortable in hot weather that I wear it all the time, safer and quieter. |
