Are the airbox cover and front numberplate plastics the same (shape and mounting points) on all years of the xb12x and the xb12xt?

I wanna change from black to red or blue or something.....is this doable? Just for bling!

And if so..., does anyone have the part numbers?}

I don't know about which is the fastest, but the Local LEO's seem to really like the racing red!

Had it done by a company in CA. M&M Metalizing. They did a very good job, but it took forever (like 8 weeks). You could probably have it done by anyone that does chroming. I originally sent it to them because they said they could do it and then put a green tinted clear coat over it. However after doing the chroming, they discovered that they couldn't get any clear coat to stick to it. If I had to do it over again, I would have just taken it to someone local.

I also looked into a process called vacuum metalizing, but discovered after some research that it isn't that durable. Since I was doing the air box cover, I figured I better have something that I'm not worried about a buckle or zipper ruining.

Probably because Harleys don't go, stop or feel as good as a Buell.

Thanks Crusty. That's one reason. Also, I figured I would put chrome on a couple of bits that are not normally considered for chrome.

What are the pieces that can be replaced?
I'd like to change my XT from black to blue.
I'm guessing that I would have to purchase the pieces to do the change butI'm not sure of what I need.

To change from black to blue, you need 5 pieces for XT, 2 for X.

Both need the fly screen and air box, while XT models also need the front fender, and both sides of the chin fairing. While you're at it, I recommend you change the chin spoiler center to black, it holds up better overtime so it won't look like crap covered in road grime.

You can get the parts from your dealer, or you can trade with another Badweb member that wants to swap.
