Looking like I need to replace the battery on my o6 Uly. Been looking online, I don't have local access to anything, and not many dealers list the Uly. Is the same battery used in anything else Buell? Thanks

So far from what I've seen, and I know there are a lot of basher's, Wally World seems like the best price. I have the Everstart Gold in my truck and boat. I haven't bought one for the bike yet.

Battery Tender Jr. Buy one and use it. I've got a seven year old H-D battery in my evo FLHP and it's still going strong because I keep it on trickle if the bike sits for more than 10 days or so.

Checked with the Walmart today and they have a battery, of course they did not list the Ulysses but I measured it. I had not even thought of them, thanks for the tip. A friend told me about a motorcycle shop not far from us and told me to get a Yuasa battery because they are better. The woman at the shop said they last the same as everything else so I think I will pass on the higher price and spend the difference on the Battery Tender. Now to get power to my garage. Always something. Thanks for the replies, this forum is very entertaining and enlightening!

Make sure the replacement battery is the "super sealed" type.

... Wally World seems like the best price.

I looked into one of those last week, however their little electronic look-it-up gizmo listed the battery for the XB's (no Uly listed tho) as a "14" type. Don't our XB's use a 12-amp/hour battery?

More amp hours is fine. Its just a "deeper well" to draw from. For that matter, fewer amp hours is fine as well, you will just have fewer cranks before it's dead. Don't go too small though, or the Voltage Regulator will have to absorb too much power.

My bigger concern would be the packaging. If that thing cracks and leaks acid, it could do a lot of damage before you find it.

The wal mart battery I put in my KLR-250 stopped holding much of a charge in less then a season, FWIW.

I took Teeps advice and went with a super sealed which meant no Walmart battery. I bought a Yuasa, found one in town at a new bike shop that opened, forgot about them being here. It cost more but as soon as I can get power to the garage I am going to follow Ratbuell's advice also and get a battery tender. The thing that really changed my mind on the Walmart battery was that it is not sealed and has the overflow tube that you have to run somewhere. Thanks for all of the comments.

Well that is something I didn't know about. I haven't replaced mine yet but I priced them and need to look closer. Thanks!
