I've had this thought in the back of my mind now for a while..and I think the time has come to get some outside opinions.

I want to lower my uly, and I am considering the possibility of just swapping parts, say, from a XB12S or something.

Can this be done? I love my ulysses, although that 1125R sure is tempting. I'd just like it to be a bit lower to the ground. Being able to flat foot it would be nice, and I also think the handling would improve a bit by the bike being a bit lower.

Ideas? Thoughts?

personally i think the handling on the xt is great except under 1mph, then it sucks. even 2 up is pretty good. if you lower it, don't do it no more than the xt.

IMHO instead of chopping up my bike my first thought would be just getting the model I want. If you like the stance of the XB12S why not get one of those and put Uly bits on it?

Don't know about the under 1mph handling issue on the XT either......I've never had a bike that was so easy to balance and roll at slow speed.

my uly would be perfect if it was just a little shorter.

here's a pic, without the hard bags.

i have an 06 uly, i put a xb shock i bought on e bay i think it was from a lightning, and i slid the fork legs up in the trees, then i made a couple of spacers for under the handlebars it lowered the bike about 1 in. pretty easy to do, only cost about $80.00

By my reckoning, a pair of Lightning fork legs and a rear shock from a Lightning Long should do the trick.

If I'm wrong, then I am sure that someone will point it out to me!

I love my Uly but wish it was shorter too. I think if I go that far I will trade it for an XT though. There are some differences in the suspension that sets up the XT a little better for road riding it appears.
