Visited my local Triumph dealer last week and he said that Buell riders are unhappy with their Buell's and that they wished they have bought the Triumph Tigers. He said that the Tiger has lower maintenance and are a better bike than Buell. I'm pretty sure he's trying to sell me a Tiger.

Not. A most silly suggestion. Lower maintenance...puleeze. I could not be happier with my Uly.

If a dealer's lips are moving, it's a sure sign he is lying. Next week that guy will be working for a Suzuki dealer and he'll be telling people that everybody's trading in their Buell for a V-strom.

The only machine with lower maintenance requirements than my Uly is the blender I have for mixing margaritas. No wait, I have to wash that every time I use it.

Just ask him where all the used Uly's are that people have traded in on Tigers.

I traded a Triumph for my Uly. No regrets. Well, I guess I could lament the fact that I didn't do it sooner.

Oh hell no, especially not a newer tiger. And I really liked the look of the newer tiger until I went and sat on one. (before buying the uly.)

The older tigers may be more dirt worthy with knobbies, but it seems huge, bulky and just kind of odd to me.

I've pushed my bike beyond what should be done to it off road and had a blast. (no pun intended on the blast) Now that I think of it, too bad they already used that name because it really fits the uly.

Only mud makes me think twice so far, that and having a way out. And most of the mud here is easy to get a real dirtbike stuck in anyway, already managed that on the ktm125 I picked up used.

Survives a drop and even worse really well, Is fun as hell on the street...and my other bike is 1000cc jap bike.

No.
Now don't get me wrong. I loves me the Triumphs, but only the retro models - the Bonnies and the Scrambler. I might add one to my stable after the fuel injected versions get past their first iteration. But the Tiger? No thanks.

Yup, the Uly, hands down. My wife really loves her Scrambler though, it's a nice steady bike for her. Predictable throttle response, not too powerful and balances well.
But for pure adrenaline rush, the Uly has it all.

Bwahahahahahaahh.

I have a Thunderbird with 120,000km and not long ago sold a Trophy 1200 with 80,000km. I like Triumphs a lot.

'He said that the Tiger has lower maintenance and are a better bike than Buell.'

Tiger has pretty much the same maintenance that the Uly does, except that it has a chain to lube, valves to adjust, and coolant to flush.
