Fantastic. What karmic wheaties did I pee in? After having my Uly for 13 months and just now passing 500 miles, of which half came since all my bugaboos were helped to be fix by my brothers and sisters here...I have to have shoulder surgery. My ortho whose a pal of mine says he gotta put five holes in the shoulder to fix all the damage there and I'm off anything for 6 weeks, 3 months exercise, 4 months contact sports. There goes the summer...

Anyway, given that I'll have all this wonderful downtime, I'm going to farkle like a Goldwinger.. You guys already helped me with the communication options. I'm putting that plan together. I'd like to find out about what the consensus is on cost and feasibility of lowering the 06. I'd really like just a couple more inches. I'm on the lower seat now.

Thanks for everyone's support. I love the bike. I'd love even more to ride it...

rear shocks of the XB12XT will lower you an inch and still keep the adjustibility, and then lower your front fork springs to the Xt models as well. While you are in there, might as well look up the Treadmarks fork clock increase kit. (turning is good) and a slim custom seat with gell inserts will get you that extra inch.... no idea on cost, but she is all doable. good luck

Such a bummer: 13 months and only 500 miles. Heal up fast and get back on the beast!

If I remember correctly, someone posted a new XB12XT rear shock costs $484. Say $500.00

I went a cheaper way and got shock for an XB Long for around $100.00. (off ebay) It fit perfectly, but I did lose the knob dial-in function.
The hose to the oil reservoir is about three times as long as the Uly and has to be stuffed in the open spaces.

With a lowered seat, I can now flat foot my '06 Uly. I have a 31" inseam.

I should, but haven't lowered the front fork.
The handling effect was not dramatic enough to change.(for me). I don't do track days. Mostly long slab rides.

Anyway, it's something to consider.

+1 on the XT shock.

If it's in the budget, go for the XT forks too. While installing them, put on the 08 triple clamps for better turning radius. Cityx, I don't understand installing just the XT fork springs. The static sag would be HUGE wouldn't it? My ultimate fork lowering would be the XT internals, 08 X lower fork leg and 08 triple trees. You get the best of the 08 XT and 08 X (no change in steering geometry).

I lowered my front about 1 1/2" by raising the fork tubes in the triple clamps. You have to raise the handlebars to do that. Rox Risers work.

So rox risers + raising the tubes + an xt rear shock will buy you an inch? Nice.

I also understand that the XT has a urethane bottom out dampener. Is that correct to those in the know?

Thanks for the support everyone, you guys are the reason I just haven't given up.

I'll look into the options. I'm not a track rider, just mostly touring type riding. That when I ever get the chance...lol

Thanks
