How the hell did you get 53 on a Prius? We have a fleet of four 2007's, lifetime average is high 30s, and I drive it easy. Hell i get the same gas mileage out of a Monte Carlo. Whatever, the Prius can't wheelie, so it looses by default. |

From Helena, MT to Great Falls on the backroads 60-70 mgh 52 mpg easy last week or highway 70-75 mph 53 mpg ... for the 06' Uly. Our Prius 46-52 mpg and lowest 42 in the winter. High 30's.... WTF! almost imposible maybe 85-90 mph with a car-top carrier. Chas |

04' Prius this weekend. 63.6 mpg over a 270 mile trip from Omaha to Iowa City with a push from westerly winds. On the way back to Omaha we went into a light headwind and got 55 mpg. Average of both ways computed to 59.3 mpg. Better than my ULY and it was carrying 3 of us. Car was set on cruise control speed of 61 mph both ways. Can't wait for that cityZenn to be available. Suppose to get 250 miles per charge of it's ultra-capacitor. Top speed 80 mph with recharge of 5 minutes. Just got this email update today: cityZENN Specifications The cityZENN is planned to be a fully certified, highway capable vehicle with a top speed of 125 KPH/ 80 MPH and a range of 400 kilometres/250 miles. Powered by EEStor, the cityZENN will be rechargeable in less than 5 minutes, feature operating costs 1/10th of a typical internal combustion engine vehicle and be 100% emission-free! The Zero-Emission, No-Noise cityZENN will be designed to meet the transportation requirements of a large percentage of drivers worldwide. "cruise control speed of 61 mph both ways" Ah see - that's why they'd never work outside USA - rest of world travels at real time Just kidding, but in Europe if you go that 'fast' you get the train.... |

IMHO, emissions-free vehicles don't exist as of yet. At least not until our electric service providers can operate solely with a combination of nuclear, hydroelectric, and wind power. But then, even nuclear plants produce nuclear waste. What we are doing -in actuality- is trading one source of airborne pollution, for another; as the vast majority of our power is still generated by plants powered by fossil fuels. Here in the northeast, its coal. Or, perhaps it depends upon the area of the country in which you live - and how that area is supplied with electric power. But isn't electric power commingled via distribution grids? I guess you could argue pollutants per mile driven perhaps (gas vs. electric).... but you get my point. There is no free ride. . |

Heck, my old 91 Honda CRX hf (car) gets 55 mpg on trips. Gets better millage than my 12X and the tires last 50K. It sits in the garage though unless it's raining out |

There is no free ride. +1. I wonder what the difference of operating costs of a (purchased) hybrid car and a highly fuel efficient or diesel car would be? Bikes are not in the same category IMHO, regardless of mpg comparisons. |

oooops! Sorry about that. Thats the trouble with assuming, I must stop it before it drops me in the brown. Thanks for the explanation on the motors, can see the wisdom in the Rover but its got me thinking... what has the boyfriend got that makes a girl overlook a mans wheels? Nice Alfa! Obviously a man of taste. I got a nice car too but its got a thick layer of dust on it since I got the Uly 0Kms in four weeks. God save the Queen... even though they are crap since Freddie bought the farm. Dick S |

Petrol is about £1.25 a litre and the Alfa averages about 30mpg. The Buell does about 50mpg! DS, don't worry, I don't think my misses saw your message..............yet! Car also doesn't get used much - done 2k miles in the last 6 months in the Alfa compared to over 3k miles on the Uly. |
