Howdy, Im gonna order stiffer springs for the forks and shock of my 07 Uly. I dont wanna have to remove the shock, measure the spring, put the bike back together, then pull the shock again when the springs get here. Do any of you know the free length of the Uly shock spring and the stock spring rate? Or do you know if the preload can be completely backed off so I could just measure it on the bike? | ||

I took my apart a couple months ago for powdercoating, but I never measured it. What I can tell you is that the spring has to be compressed about an inch to get the retainer back in place...and a special tool is required to do the job.  The tool in the picture above came from Al at American Sport Bike (http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/ccp0-prodshow/16121.html Even with the special tool, it took some effort. I just measured the shock spring off my 06 Uly. It is 9 7/16 inches long. Not sure if it would be the same for 07. | ||

Please post your results. I a would love a stiffer rear shock spring as well. The bike handles myself and being loaded, but when I add the wife and stuff for a weekend trip, it taxes the rear spring. | ||

Riding two up and loaded is my problem as well , the combined weight is 386lb. Al at American sport bike has ordered for me a set of front and rear springs that are more progressive than stock. gonna be a couple of weeks to get them, just in time for my 10k fork oil replacement, ok so its gonna be my 12k fork oil replacement, but who's counting. | ||

I used two ratchet straps to take my spring off. It was pretty easy. |
