After doing a bunch of dirt miles in the rain (i.e., mud) I realize I need some better pegs. I really like the size of the Touratech pegs but I'm already feeling a little cramped and apparently both the Toratech and American Sport Bike pegs are higher than stock. Anyone find a peg that's stock height or, preferably, lower that has improved grip? Tipsy | |||

A while back a lot of folks sharpened and deepened the grooves in the stock ones. Some used a file, some used a small cut off wheel. They said that it made a noticeable difference. | |||

I have the same problem if the shoes get wet or dirty - how about some No-Skid paint, or Rhino Lining? | |||

No Skid might work. I have some that electric companies use on the top surfaces of their utility trucks. It's like hard set glue with broken razor blades standing in it. Very tough stuff. Rhino liner, textured but very slippery. | |||

I am experimenting with grip right now. The 3m deck grip is okay but doesnt last. I am currently pretty happy with strip of ten speed bicycle inner tube cut into 3/4 inch strip and stretched over the peg like rubber bands. They will eventually wear out but you get about 200 from a single tube. I do like the idea of Rhino Liner or some similar brush on products but that stuff is pricey. I wonder if I can add sand to epoxy paint and use a brush like for cement walkways? Maybe silver paint with fine sand mixed in? | |||

A year or two ago someone posted with pics. of how he just drilled a small hole in each dimple of the peg from the underside and thus he had a little ridge at each hole. Looked like a good idea, any follow-up on how well that idea worked? Just want to know before I do my pegs. | |||

I just took a sharp punch and stippled my pegs. Grips like sand paper now. Makes a very noticeable difference in rain. If you're looking for something for mud / off road it's not going to cut it though.

John, I'll have to look it up. Buried in the archives somewhere. Once you have leaned on it with a bare arm you will never forget it! If you painted a wall with it and didn't like someone, you could strip them nekked and stick them to it!(of course they would bleed a lot, but that would be their problem)  | |||

I put some auto heater hose on my stock pegs for the time being. The brake slid on snug but the shifter needed some silicone adhesive.What I want to do is find a way to put the Touratech footrests on while lowering the height about two inches to be level with the levers. Has anybody come up with a mount lowering solution that will support standing with bloated body weight? | |||

Not sure how soon they will be available, but one option would be the pegs off the XB12XP.   What appears to be wrinkle black should help on 'grippyness' and the fact that a mounted officer would need said 'grippyness' might mean the XP's pegs are this way for this exact reason. 1313  | |||
