I've bee too lazy to put the spoiler on after my last oil change. It is easier to inspect for leaks by the filter.

How many of you run without it?

Is there a downside to not using it?

I've never put mine back on for the last year since installing the Micron Exhaust System.
I've experienced easier oil changes and leak inspection for the last year.
Mainly I haven't put it back on because I had trouble with the Micron system always getting loose.

I took mine off for my first oil change and have never put it back on. I like it without. Looks more utilitarian in my book....

It's just something else that I don't have to worry about getting scratched up or broken when I take her off road.

No chin fairing here for the last 12000 miles. the only down side is that the end of your exhaust can gets pinned from small rocks.

Me too, I hardly ever run with it attached. It's kind of useless IMHO, although it may somewhat protect the oil filter.

People sometimes ask me "What's that big black can thing under the engine?"

Here is a shot with her underware on.

Still get to the filter with the bash plate on. Bashplate is now mounted solid to the micron and the flimsy adaptors have been eliminated. Oil filter is easy on...easy off. Revised bashplate now works well as a jacking point, just incase you old farts have problems bending over to get to the filter. Added a couple inches of ground clearance as well.

Red would only look good, if I went all out like you did. Besides, I'm way too lazy for that.

Red is baaad...very baaaad

Downside would be a rock putting a hole in the oil lines or filter and then your engine seizing. That oil filter sheet metal isn't very thick.

Good thought but leaving for LA in a few minutes. I will put some duct tape on the filter for a cushion. Touratech is going to get some of my business.

Well the four rivets have all fallen out of mine, so I guess it will be coming off pretty soon!

TT says that the bash plate cannot be used for a jacking point. Seems a little ridiculous that a bash plate is less sturdy then the item it is supposed to protect.

I would never make any change to my Uly that would prevent using the muffler as a jacking point. Swing arm stands do not work well due to the lack of spools and the extreme angle/width of the swing arm.

Yeah, I read that too. More of a cya note than anything else. I use a 2x8x12 inches long piece of wood on top of my regular floor jack without issue for the last 18 months. I prefer it over the stock muffler due to the fact is is flat. If mine ever breaks or fails, I will build another from something stronger. I will get some pics next time it is up.

If your that concerned about it You should probably stick to the stock can.
