I have noticed that more people have been riding motorcycles ( or a form of ) to work now that gas has hit a new high and rising. Myself and one or two others were the norm but not now . . .
Also seen more motorcycle traumas in the ER within the last couple of months . . disturbing . . . Where is this all heading ?
Just an observation . . .
K.A.

My prediction is that we are going to see more and more 2 wheel vehicles on the road in the coming years. Accidents will also rise at about the same rate, then eventually it will go down once people start to get used to the idea of motorcycles being on the road. Also more and more people will be taking the MSF course at that point, but in the short term i expect most new riders to be the kind that will go to the DMV, get the leaner permit/jr license, then shoot over to the local Vespa store. 3 weeks later they are found underneath someones Hummer when it gets brought in for an oil change : )

Scooters are a rising problem in Columbus, I am gonna say that most of the new riders are unlicensed and probably uninsured. The half dozen or so scooters (chinese brands) that have invaded the motorcycle parking at work are both uninsured and unliscensed, I did ask them. There are three guys and gals that have ridden scooters for years, one burgman, one helix and a vespa.

Far as more tramas probably so, The new scooter riders arriving at work don't wear helmets, "cause I am not going that fast". The long term scooter riders wear helmets, the one gal is an older hippy with flowers painted on her helmet to match her scooter.

But the more people riding the better.
