I just realized a couple of weeks ago my '06 Uly became two years old(based on purchase date). Warranty is up, bike is running great, 27,000 miles. I see no reason to trade or sell to move into a new one. Still the best two wheeled ride I've had. Permagrin runs deep with this one.

There have to be a large group of Uly owners in my situation. What are you all thinking about it?

Keeping it. What would I replace it with?

I fix things myself. Parts are cheap and easy to get.

Why sell if you're happy with it.

Preventive maintenance will go a long way too. Just replaced my belt for the heck of it.

I had an 86 Concours, kept it till 02. No problems. Had an 01 GolwGing but traded up for the 06 Uly for all the right reasons. Now I plan on keeping my 06 till ? As Mr. Buell continues to improve the Uly it is becoming more tempting. I am due to retire in 2013 so if the 2012 or 2013 has all the incremtal improvements includeing an auto primary chain tensioner then I will trade in for my penion toy.

Things that you bugger up, fixing the other things that aren't broke to start with, but need fiddling with anyway...

I did the sums on upgrading 6 months ago. Wasn't worth it.

Gonna keep mine for another 2 years at least.

Looks like the 06's are selling. I thought about it but have no idea what I would rather have. Its everything I ever wanted in a bike other than wind protection but otherwise. Now if I could get rid of that dam ping!

I'll hit 50,000 miles within a couple weeks. Hope to make it to 100,000 and beyond. Got to; Mrs. Greg says all extra $$$ goes to pay off the house. But I love my '06...best bike EVER!!

Honu,

There are many options to lower the X from about $200 on up. But if you just HAVE to have an XT, I understand.

My '06's warranty ended last December. It didn't worry me in the least. As several owners have proven, it's a very durable and easy to maintain machine that I think will go at least 100,000 miles without needing major repair work, and probably a lot more.
However, I just traded in my '06 Uly with 34,640 miles on it for an XT. The '06 was the most reliable motorcycle I've owned in 39 years of riding, and was a joy to ride, but the XT is even more of what I want in a motorcycle. It does everything the '06 did for me, and it lets me put my whole foot on the ground at a stop. And it has the new engine. And it's Racing Red. And...

How many things had to be fixed under your warranty? Total it up, if anything...my bet is there's little to nothing that had to be done. Now project that to the future...

Keep up on maintenance, and enjoy the permagrin as you blow past cages while you're getting 2 to 3 times better fuel mileage!

"There have to be a large group of Uly owners in my situation. What are you all thinking about it?"

RIDING IT!!!!!!

on Sunday 5/25, my Ulysses will be two years old and it has been by far the best motorcycle I've ever owned! over 17,000 miles and I've only had to change the rear tire at my 10,000 service and the rear brake pads at 16,000 miles. I actually think it runs better than it did when it was new.

I will most likely purchase another Buell someday, but I will never get rid of my Ulysses!

Some day someone else will have the pleasure of owning my 2006 Ulysses but I haven decided who just yet. When I decide, I put it in my will so they can own and enjoy it as much as I do, but NOT as long as I'm alive!

"It's a keeper."

Wish I felt the same way. If they didn't depreciate so much, I would certainly look to trade. I WILL keep it through the warranty period though.

I'm keeping mine...

It turned 2 years old (purchase date) at the end of Jan. I should hit 29,000 miles on the way home today.

Its better now than the day I bought it.

I plan on keeping mine till it's worn to a nub. Warranty will be up next month. I certainly got my money's worth out of the warranty but she's running fine and all sorted out. She seems to be an easy bike to live with for the most part.
I wonder if I will be able to get a factory reman engine when the time comes?

Keep it. Buells and Ducatis are motorcycles that you regret selling, if you ever do.

i have an 06 too....#99 sold [got one of the cool autographed windshields]and it is my all time favorite street bike. i have 17 k + and would have several thou more except i was in an accident that put me out of commission for a month and the bike for 4 mos. completely rebuilt inc a new frame. i use it for gen transport, track days and some sportbike riding when i can. i live in Fl., 300 mi and 11 turns. ugh
don't want to sell it but would certainly think about it w/the 1125 motor in it.

I'm keeping mine,I extended the warranty by one year just in case.
Once that runs out,I won't worry about it.

I just need to find a place I can trust with the maintainance jobs I can't do myself.

I agree with all of you. my warranty is up next month about the same time I should hit 31,000 miles. it is a superior machine. not many bikes can run as hard or as long as a buell can. its super easy to maintain, carries the lady better than any other bike and gets 48mpg at 90mph. beat that Prius.
