Since there's been a lot of "I love my Uly" posts lately, I thought I'd chime in as well. I rode up to the Berkshires this weekend for this ride (the reports/pictures from this years event begin at post #516) .

It was a 140 mile circuit through the Berkshire mountains of CT and MA. There was no GPS track. It was navigated by Enduro style roll sheets. I'd say about 75% of the ride was on dirt. After the halfway point, the rain began and did not end.

The Uly did a fantastic job! I did spy one one other Uly and I think there was even someone on an RS (BMW) but the Uly was pretty much at the most "street bike" end of the spectrum out of the 200 bikes participating.

This single ride totaled more dirt riding than I'd ever done in my life combined! The limiting factor (other than rider skill...or lack thereof) was clearly the tires. Especially when the rain began and most of the dirt turned to mud.

There were four very distinct times when either the front or rear unexpectedly washed out and I thought for sure I was going down...but someone how I stuck out my foot and managed to stay on two wheels.

I was standing for most of the dirt and I definitely need a more aggressive set of pegs. My feet were sliding on the pegs quite a bit...not good.

I didn't do a ride report but here's one posted by one of the other NYC riders who came up for the weekend (no, I did not trailer to the ride)!

By the way, if a lot of the photos seem kind of extreme, those are the "hero" sections. We stayed on the main route which was advertised as "big bike" friendly. With the the exception of the mud and one stretch of road that had not been maintained for the last five years, it was a great ride on the Uly. I was very impressed with how it handled the bumps and so were most of the guys I was riding with. My group consisted of two KTM 950 Adventure's, a DR650, a KTM 640, a GS650 Dakar and a KLR.
