This forum has been very helpful to me, but many of the posts are about what went wrong with this bike or that. I would like to hear what you like about your bike. For me: Love the Ergos, finding a bike to fit me has been hard, Love the engine, and I'm a Ducati guy. Mine will pull cleanly from Below 2000, wheelies at will, gets 45mpg with my big fat ass on it doin' 90mph all the time. | ||

It's just fun, different fun than my jap bike. Does a good imitation of an off-road bike and allows me to get a little dirty and off the beaten, crowded path. Came with steel braided lines- nice. Even as tall as it is it handles really nicely even compared to my jap bike. The other XB's must be real sweet on a twisty road. Though it is an "international bike" it is an American product, gives me a warm fuzzy. ..... I don't worry about anyone stealing it because anyone who would "get it" probably isn't a thieving scum....though I have gotten lots of positive feedback on it, lots of, "who makes that?" but lots of positive feedback from both riders and non-riders alike. It's just an absolute hoot to ride. More smile per mile than any other bike I have ever ridden. Today I was sitting at the traffic light at the exit to the industrial park I work in and the vibration at idle was like a good massage melting the workday tension away. | ||

Good Thread Desmo. Here is my short list...my long list would bog down the Badweb server! 1. It is fun to ride, especially in the twisties. 2. It is comfortable enough to ride all day long. 3. It is so easy to work on that I can handle all the maintenance myself. and most importantly... 4. It is so much fun to personalize!  | ||

+1 what maximum said plus 5 Great gas mileage to go with the no-pain no-strain engine 6 Not only is the maintenance easy, there's not much of it. Its been said before- add gas, ride, repeat. 46k and still smilin' every day. | ||

Ok, +2 on Maximum but I also asked my wife (who has been pillion on many bikes over the last 30 years) and this is her list: 1. 'Comfortable' - she still has a soft spot for our old ZX11 but rates this as equal best pillion ride. 2. 'Fun to ride without risking the firm hand of the law' - all of the bikes we have had that were comfortable two-up were not as nimble in the twisties and the 'fun' comes in at much higher speeds. 3. 'Raw' - she was initially very circumspect of this odd looking thing that felt like a paint shaker at idle but when we took the ZX12 for the last (rare) ride she thought it was 'too smooth and plastic'. She now loves the feeling of being 'part' of the experience. We recently had the good fortune to meet Erik when he was out here in Australia for the release of the 1125R and I told him that I wanted to personally thank him for my Ulysses. His first question was to my wife to ask her opinion as a pillion. I am going to see 57,000km click over tomorrow and I love riding it every day! (Message edited by Rays on May 14, 2008) | ||

I have to seek out other people who have one rather than see 15 while I am out riding When I see one on local roads, there's a better than average chance I know them. I still get that "Buell, what's that?" comments from folks. It's the closest thing to a hopped up 1969 Chevelle on two wheels. | ||

From my profile: My Uly is the funest bike I've ever owned. It does everything, city hooligan, tours comfortably, eats twisties, and when crusing it looks & sounds great. When I go off-road with it I feel like a redneck taking a Town Car into a gravel pit. YEE-HAW!!!! And don't forget the HUGE grin factor. | ||

1. It's a Buell - Different in every sense. 2. Almost maintenance free 3. Downright fun to ride 4. You don't see one on every street corner 5. Easy to service and factory parts don't cost near as much as other brands 6. More than enough power and suspension to explore unpaved roads two-up on the saddle 7. Sweet V-twin rumble and exhaust howl 8. After a 18 year absence, this is the first cycle my wife would ride on the back with me again. I do have one "complaint" though...not enough time to ride and explore. | ||

I like mine because it does everything I want to do and does not whimper a bit. After a couple of hundred miles of forest roads (dirt, gravel) it never loosened one bolt. Upon arriving at the pavement, I spotted a small pack of sportbikes ahead and quickly caught up to them whereby I confidently passed them all in the twisties. Back home again it's ready to take me and all my stuff to work everyday, year round. Factor in reasonable initial cost, low maint, great fuel economy and inexpensive parts and I'm looking at the nearly perfect motorcycle for me. I've owned a lot of bikes but I've never had it so good! | ||

 They seem to have most of it right, but they forgot no chrome and it is the color of road dirt. More time riding, less time polishing. Awesome. Fun. Permagrin.  | ||

Wow, where do you start? Etennuly has a great point-I picked it partly because it has no chrome to clean and I commute every day. For fun commuting, it can carry lots of stuff-extra clothes, cooler jacket for when it's 40 in the morning and 80 in the afternoon. Mostly though? I love it's cantankerous sort of snorty beast attitude. It's something I haven't seen in a bike since having a very hopped up Ducati 650 Allazzura (or of course my last Buell, a 98 S1WL). I know some people complain about the "poor running" but to me it is part of the bike's charm. Lots of fun and great handling, and comfortable too. Those are usually mutually exclusive qualities. Love it! | ||

Not to mention the Uly may be the most versatile bike in the Harley/Buell line up - touring, sport, commuting. | ||

My Uly loves me! Its right because here in the land of cheese,chocolate and pacifism its rare. Last weekend I went on a 350 mile ride through the mountains with my Old PastaRocket buddies. They made fun of my 100 year old engine and other comments. But none could shake me in the turns, could only pull away a little in the straights, and at the end of the day they all had sore butts, sore wrists, and a bunch of maintenance to do. Me? I was ready for another ride  |
