Just curious if a TPS reset (bike runs like a scalded dog) could affect the overall fuel mileage? I noted about a 4mpg drop this last tank, but I'm not sure if it's from the service, from a bad tank of gas, from my opening up the airbox (love that honk!), or from more opening up the throttle because it runs so well.... Is there a TPS/AFV "recipe" (if indeed the TPS setting does affect fuel economy) for economy versus performance? Sorry for the potentially newbie question...I'm used to speaking Tuber, this is my first XB |

I don't think the TPS will effect the mileage unless it's way off but being that far off would make it run terrible. The AFV will set itself where it needs to be. Many things effect mileage such as head-wind, loading, hills, hamm-fisting etc. Mine averages 38-42 depending on conditions but I'm a heavy guy and ride pretty hard most of the time. I also have the race-can and race ECM as well as a high-flow air filter. Those things help it run but don't help the mileage...... |

I would guess first that you had been running real gas and got a tank of alcohol enhanced stuff. |

A bad TPS setting will mostly make itself known by making off-idle response crappy. Remember that percentage-wise, the difference between throttle at idle and throttle at 45MPH is not so different. |

Nah, no hiccups or coughs...I guess I'm just running it harder because I love the sound of that intake honk (nearly as nice as the whistle out of our Cummins Dodge!). Or "different" fuel. All in all, I can't bitch - been running the wheels off it since I got it, 1500 miles in under a month and been averaging 42mpg for all tanks up to this one. A "drop" to 38 is liveable, especially on a bike that's still new. |
