The first one I saw in person was at New Castle HD in Penna. My wife and I had our bikes in the back of our truck. My '05 City-X, and her '01 Blast.

The sales guy took the time to take us out back in a locked building to let me sit on the first one that they had come in. It was pre-sold so he couldn't start it but he let me look it over and sit on it. I was hooked from there.

He even took the time to come out and look at our bikes in the truck. The dealership also had a great selection of Buell shirts and accessories.

I forget where I was to be honest, but I do remember it was that god awful yellow, or maybe it was orange, jeez ... the bike seemed nice enough though - fit me really well.

First time I saw a Uly was in a magazine while I was in Iraq...I believe that it was February 2006. I remember reading all the BadWeb from Chad and Eeyore, back when Ft_bstrd was just a wanna be!

I then test rode one at High Country Buell (Colorado) while I was on mid-tour leave...in July 2006.

I love it even more now than I did back then!!!

What, yesterday?

I was a pain in the ass back then too. : D

I saw the first one when I threw a leg over it and took it on an 80 mile test ride.

I saw my first one at the dealer while picking up some oil for my Sporty. After being talked into a test ride, they kept the Sporty and I rode her home.

September 2005 @ my multi brand dealer.
I liked it but my XB12S was only 1 year old at that time. It came in before this dealer had it's Buell-day on the 24th. I was asked by the dealer to "break it in" before it was handed over to the crowd on Buell-day.

So I took the Uly for half a day on the road. Took the picture that day with my crappy mobile.

7 months later I bought a black Uly.

Back to the track, vegas 2006... I was hooked, pity I had to have somebody pop the kick stand before and after laps... this is before the short seat, I had my feet swinging in the air, even with my toes pointed down. Bought the CityX the weekend I got home.... been riding that like a ULY every damn chance I get.
(sold 12 of them that first year)

I first saw one at Liberty's Open House in Sept. '05. Took it out for a demo ride, but I still wasn't sure. In late November, I saw one in sexy BARRICADE ORANGE and I got hooked.
Now, I'm hooked on a RACING RED XT. I just haven't decided which dealer I'm going to buy it from yet.

Magazine, Then went to Seaford Hardley. Salesman took me to back room. He was reluctant to even let me sit upon it. It took 9 months before I could find a dealer that would let me test ride one. It was the Harldey dealer that was reluctant to let me sit upon the bike. Anyway after spending 3 weeks negotiating with salesman purhcased in summer 06. I will not purchase a car, a bike or shoes without at least a test ride.

I think it was June or July 05. I had deposited for one when the first announcement came out but hadn't seen one yet. It came in to the dealer on a Friday and I rode away on it that Saturday. Salesmen were pissed because they didn't even get a chance to check it out before it left.
Still happy I pulled the trigger!

My coworker brought his in to work one day. It was parked next to my 1150R. I looked at the ULY, looked at my R, and I said "F that, I'm getting the ULY!" Been grinning ever since.

It was March '06 and I was on my back in a hospital bed with a crushed heel, flicking through a bike mag when I spotted a Uly review and liked the look of it.

Money wasn't going to be an issue,I had savings, knew I had a sizable insurance pay-out coming and doG nammit I deserved a new bike for being knocked off the last one (Triumph Tiger).

Love at first sight really,I wanted to try a different engine configuration and a big V-twin was alright by me-turns out it was a good choice,it still makes me grin nearly two years on.

Funny thing is I was in Colorado (Estes Park) for a family reunion (wife's) when the intro was going on, but wasn't close enough to the highway to see the bikes. Had been reading about the Uly and was interested as an alternative to a Vstrom. Actually saw one at the Long Beach show Nov or Dec 05. Took a demo ride then drove over to Cal HD/B that afternoon and put down a deposit. Haven't regretted a minute of it.

Believe it or not, a small, basic ad for the Uly in Thunder Press caught my eye back in early 2006. The bike looked so crazy and the description of it seemed to fit exactly what I was looking for - the cross between a sportbike, tourer, and off-roader. BMW GS1200s had been on my RADAR, but I knew I couldn't justify the cost at that time. The Uly's pricetag was ideal.

That summer, I went to a test-ride day in Baltimore and about lost my mind with glee - I knew I'd be taking one home. The funniest moment was at a stoplight, clustered with 10-12 Buells with their fans all running. I knew I was going to be part of something unique.

It was at the NY international motorcycle show. I was there looking at various bikes to upgrade from my Suzuki GS500F, and I heard a bit about Buell so I made sure I stopped at their booth. I laid eyes on the 2007 Uly in black with 3 bags and GPS. I fell in love right then. When I climbed on to the seat, the bike just engulfed me with some kind of Buell voodoo and next thing I know I picked mine up with no test ride 4 weeks later : )

The first one I saw in person was at Vallejo CA. H.D. / Buell. Took it for a test ride. I loved it right off the bat and tried to buy it right then and there! They wanted $1000.00 over retail and wouldn't budge on the price so I walked. Haven't been back since.
Ended up ordering one from Walnut Creek. So far I've only seen two on the road besides mine. I've NEVER seen another orange one.

I sat on a new one at a stealer in south miami.

Took the wife back the next day to test the comfort.

Drove clear across the state to buy a new one because my stealer is an #%^#.

I think that same uly is still sitting there in his showroom, surrounded by black and chrome harleys.

I stopped at a local dealer in WI to pick several plugs for my old Honda Shadow and they had an 06' Uly waiting for inspection. It coudn't have been more than 6-9 months old. The owner had painted it blue. My first thought was "this is the ugliest thing that I have ever seen" (probably had something to do with the bad paint job and lack of care).

2 weeks later I was at a reputable dealer for a test drive. Fell in love instantly, bought an 07' a few weeks later. Best purchase I have ever made!

First time I saw a picture was in some US glossy high brow motorcycle magazine which I bought at Chicago airport to read on a flight back to the UK. At the time I was thinking of a GS, and the Uly was just being released. At the time I liked the look, but didn't think much of it as I'd never seen a Buell before at the time, and wasn't sure you could get the in the UK.

The first time I saw one in person was when I went for a test drive when looking for something to replace my ailing Ducati in early 2007. I recalled the article and by then realised my local HD dealer (BlackBear in Newmarket, UK) had a very good reputation, and it was worth trying. I'd not gone a couple of miles on the bike before I realised I'd found something special and unlike any other bike I'd tested. Two weeks later a new Orange Uly was mine : )

BlackBear, for what it's worth, have turned out to live up to and beyond their reputation. They're great, and have just added to the enjoyment of having this bike.

The first one I saw was in of all places, right here in Point Reyes.

The second one was at Vallejo Buell.

Third one was in Nicasio.

Fourth & fith at Golden Gate Buell.

I think I can remember every one. Uly sightings sorta get lodged in my head and crowd out all the other things I once remembered : )

A neighbor of mine pulled up on one day grinning ear to ear. I had a CBR and a Kawasaki Ninja in my garage then. We got talking about his new bike and why he couldn’t wipe that stupid grin off his face. He threw me the keys a few times. As they say, the rest was history.

Saw an 06 Uly in the Trading Post on the net and said WTF is that, fell in love with the look and it was in Western Australia. Never even heard of a Buell before so researched on the net for hours. Rang the guy the next morning to set up a meet that arvo. Then went to local HD dealer to see one in the flesh and he talked me into a test ride Ha-Ha. I was only riding a VTR250 so when I rode the Uly ......well you can imagine...I don't think I stopped yelling in my helmet all the way back to the dealer. Went to see the guy selling the 06....how hard is it to try to deal, with a silly smirk on your face needless to say I paid his asking price. And lovin' it.

Hmm, I was sitting somewhere in Afghanistan thinking about how a dual sport (I know, I know) would be fun... Of course I thought of the BMW but I also knew how expensive they are to purchase and maintain... I started looking at Buells because I could purchase one over there at a discounted rate... Well I came across the Uly and as someone else said, I thought it was really ugly... After reading a bit about it though and looking at it some more, I began to love it! I purchased it without ever seeing it in person (thanks Bob S!).
I first saw one in person at HD Buell in Brandon, FL. Picked mine up in Albequerque, NM and took it cross country back to FL! Loving it ever since.
