I have to share what I finally got in today from my custom lens maker!

....
...
..
.

So hopefully production of the "Uly light" will begin very soon!

Treadmarks is first in line

This was no easy task! But its not over yet!

I need to figure out the best way to cover up the internal circuitry as it will stick out farther then the stock due to the extra LED's(like 40-50 extra LED's!!!)
(and not have that nice chrome cover/reflector, as it would cost too much to design a different cover for various custom designs.)

I thought about just painting it black about 2 inches deep from the edges, but its so hard to get the paint perfect.
Maybe I can mold a black plexi-glass sleeve of sorts????

this pic gives a basic idea of what I'm trying to cover up

the pic isnt perfect and it wouldnt be that much covered up, but it gives you an idea. any suggestions here would be greatly appreciated. there will just be too much circuitry visibly that would not look pretty to the eyes.

Thanks guys! and an big big THANKS to Treadmarks!

The Uly light is friggin' bright stock. Are you trying to incinerate any vehicle that might hit a Uly in the butt?

I have been helping Robert with this.

I asked him for the deathray in red.

Great news Robert.

How long before I can blind some third world drivers?

Do you have the ability to modify a stock Uly light? All I want is the feature I put in my S2 - a couple of LEDs on the side of the lens assembly that wig-wag-flash when I'm on the brakes. Motion draws attention....

I'm going for brighter of course, but this also allows for various (on a small scale) custom running lights and the option of built in turn signals which account for about 75% of my sales.

I am very pleased with how the lens came out out!! he did an awesome job!

I still have a bit to go though, on designing that cover or sleeve, however I plan to do it! I sent all my stuff to the lens maker a while back (like 5 or 6 months) so I didnt have anything I could play with until now.

(he took his time molding the lens, but it was well worth it in my opinion!)

In the upcoming weeks i'll be brainstorming and thinking how I can hide all that internal circuitry, so its more pleasant to look at.

any ideas are greatly appreciated!

I'm pretty excited about this one!!
Well, especially since to the best of my knowledge it will be the ONLY aftermarket light for the Uly!!

Thanks guys and gals!

The Uly tail light IS very bright but only directly from the rear in my opinion.

Get someone to hold the brake on for you while you look at the brake light from the sort of eye-level of a car driver and then move around to the side-the amount of light emitted to the side is really reduced.

The old 'normal' bulb type of tail light used to show a fairly equal amount of light to the rear and side.

I added red marker lights on the rear fender to add some visibility from the sides.

Just saying what I've done.

As it goes, maybe if you're not using the full, chromed reflector like the original does (in your clear, custom lens),you could allow the heads of the LEDs to be more visible from the side than the originals and solve the problem.

That is an option to have some of them tilted a bit to get the light shining in various directions...........

With the lens being as smooth as it is, unlike the XB which have a nice reflector surface it might not be too bright off axis.

I'll have to play with it once I get past my "cover" issue.

Thanks
