On the Scorpion Syncs are what pressures are you running at? I have mine set at the factory pressure 34psi front and 36 psi rear. Like I said before, I run the twistys but I'm not even close to bag scraping or squid chasing. I usually ride solo. I was trying to see if 3k on a tire is normal or extream wear. |

FWIW, Just passed 8500 miles on Avon Storm ST's and the wear bars are now in use. Front and rear seem to wear at about the same rate and the front shows no signs of cupping. For the price, I will stay with the AVONS. MY 98 S3 has Shinko Ravens on it and they are wearing like iron with the corresponding harsh ride. I don't think I will try them on the ULY. |

Guys, see this article, specifically the part where one of the true experts on tyres says always to run your tyres at the tyre-manufactorers pressure, and not that of the bike. http://www.ukbeg.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file= viewtopic&t=6455 For example, my conti road attacks are 42 rear and 34 front. Running at Buell's generic pressure would screw the rear tyre in no time, and not be as safe either. |

Has anyone tried the conti trail attacks? How are they on the road? -Chris |

Great Link, Bigkuri, thanks... I know what Buell recommends for tire pressure on Sync tires per their OM. Does this differ in any way from what Pirelli recommends for tire pressure with their Scorpion Sync tires? . (Message edited by Johnboy777 on May 09, 2008) |

Dumb question, but with the min being 32 psi and max being 42 for the front, what's the best tire pressure to have in the Pirelli Scorpions....both front and rear. Somewhere in between? |

In that article on ukbeg he says that, "As for pressures, you should use those recommended by the tyre's manufacturer. They may be higher than those recommended by the bike manufacturer, but the bike manufacturer has only tested the bike with the tyres that come fitted when new and will not be familiar with the performance and characteristics of other tyres." I interpret that to mean: Follow Buell's recommendations for the scorpion syncs, and the tire manufacturer for all others. -Chris |

Here's an interesting excerpt from Bryn Phillips at Bridgestone UK: LINK: http://www.ukbeg.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file= viewtopic&t=6455 "Still on the subject of tread wear, no end of people ask me why they've only had 1,500 miles from their rear tyre when other people are claiming to get 3,000 miles from the same tyres on the same bike. I have to be honest with them and tell them it's because of their riding style and not the supposedly faulty or quite often "shit" tyre they claim to have. Smooth riding, whether fast or slow, gives the best tyre mileage. As I've explained, it's acceleration that causes tyres to wear out, so if you carry more corner speed and have to accelerate less out of a corner you will get better tyre mileage. The worst tyre mileages are attained by riders who think they're fast because they accelerate hard all of the time and invariably they're the ones who complain about poor mileages." I'm guilty of that one - i don't ride real hard into or out of corners (sometimes out, maybe), but I'm always accelerating hard from a stop, if i can, ... its so much damn fun! That would explain my poor tire mileage, thus far. EDIT: The more i think about it, i'm accelerating every chance i get. John (Message edited by Johnboy777 on May 15, 2008) |
