I want to improve my night riding visibility. I'm looking at the PIAA H7 bulb. Will my housing and wiring be able to withstand the heat these produce?

How many watts?

I have used up to 70 watts or so with no issues.

But at a similar cost of PIAA bulbs, you can upgrade to HID. A little more effort than swapping a bulb, but a lot brighter too!

I saw a Philips H7 at Cycle Gear today for $19.99. The box said it was "40% brighter" than a halogen bulb. It also had a orange colored background for added visibility. I might give it a try.

I have a set of Sylvania Silverstar Ultra's in my car which work much better than the stock bulbs. They make an H7 bulb for the bike.

Once I got my lights aimed properly they work much better. (c;

+1 on Silverstars. All my cars run them, as well as my FLHP and my S1W. Beam pattern on the Uly seems to be pretty good so I haven't messed with that yet.

I've been running 100w bulbs for over 2 years now. No problems at all.

Thank you all. I'll try the cheapies over the PIAA's first. The money I save will go into the tank instead. Max, that is one fargin' beautiful customization!

I have the PIAA H7 superbrights and PIAA 510 SMR's to match. Huge improvement.

I ran these for about a year in the stock housings. Much better than stock bulbs and cheaper than piaas.

+1 on the Osrams, I ran them on my previous bike and the difference was noticeable. I was just thinking about maybe doing the same for the Uly.
Hey Rotorhead, what bulbs are you running? I recall seeing the reflectors on your bike at MBV being...a little worn : )
