Well, we had a Uly sidestand kit on the shelf, and since it's pouring rain we're not that busy...so I experimented. I held the X sidestand up to the XT we have on the floor (which has a HUGE "foot" at the end of the stand), and they're the same length. YAY. I'll be getting one for my X - the larger foot should help keep it from sinking into the dirt and mud  The XT stand part number is L0167.1AVB and it lists for $34.05 for those who are interested....it also appears it has a different bracket, L0152.1AV, $14.99. | ||

Now if you could just get the fasteners to hold the kickstand in place at a decent turn around time..... waiting a week and a half since the hoopdee incident  | ||

Yeah, that big foot is nice. I've set mine out on some very soft ground with excellent results. A little shorter length would be nice though. There are times when it feels like the bike isn't leaning enough for my comfort. Road shoulders come to mind. The fact that it's the same length as the X's explains it. | ||

Touche' I personally would prefer a one piece unit vs. something that's added on with separate pieces and screws. But that's just me, $20 is peanuts when you're talking about how much most here spend on farkles. Plus if Buell sees a spike in orders for the XT side stands they may get the hint that they were on to something and extend it across the entire line.......just a thought. Nothing wrong with a decently constructed aftermarket add on either I suppose. | ||

Isn't it a little ironic that the bike that is intended to never stray from the pavement has the wide footprint kick stand and the bike that's meant to wander off the beaten path (so to speak) has the kickstand with the smaller footprint?  Tipsy | ||

Maybe not Tipsy, a smaller foot especially with a loaded bike will sink more readily into hot asphalt. Most X riders wouldn't haul a fully loaded Uly off-pavement anyway, so the foot could be put down on a stick or rock or a squashed can or something if necessary. Just the same the XT stand looks better to me. The one I was checking out last week seemed to deploy at a shallower angle than the X stand but I might be wrong. If I'm right, then the bracket could be the difference, and regardless of the same length of the two stands the XT stand and bracket on an X could put the X at a radical lean. If I'm wrong about the bracket and the angles are the same then extra height of the X might change the angle of the XT foot when deployed. But I could just be full of it anyway...  | ||

I'm actually hoping to get a couple extra degrees of lean with an XT stand on my X. When I'm off-pavement it's tough to find a flat spot when I climb off, and more often than not when I point the bike uphill to "park", it ends up barely leaning at all. Like, a good gust of wind would push it over to the right. Now, I follow Court's thought process on new bikes - kick it over right off the bat and if it upsets you, you spent too much. This is the main reason I got the Uly - they bounce, especially with the bags. However, picking said bike back up always sucks...and although a bike falling in the woods may not make a sound, I'm sure people would hear my ass cussing and grunting as I pick it back up while my bad knee goes out and my good leg sinks in the mud or slips on leaves. LOL. | ||

+2 on the Touratech. It has about 50% more surface area than the XT foot print. Still leans far enough to easily allow mounting up standing on the 'lean' side foot peg. takes 10 minutes to install. Parked on some pretty soft stuff with no anxiety about "will it still be standing when I get out of the resturant, head, tent, etc. (I woulda added bar...but that wouldnt be responsible...and folks might think this is an HD site) | ||

I loves my tt bigfoot. Camped last year in huge Wisconsin rainstorm and did not worry at all about the bike tipping over. | ||

Hey Joe Know what you mean about hardly any slant when pointing uphill. I make sure to load the left bag first ... I'd be interested to know how it works on the X. Have you verified that L0174.1AVB is the number to order...idea on price? Thanks Ken | ||

just dont get small shale rocks up in between the metal pieces on the touratech stand, it will rattle like the dickens and over the course of the summer the neat little fasteners that they use with the allen heads will deform, so getting it back off to remove said rock shale is a P.I.T.A DAMHIK | ||

+5 on TT. I like the industrial age look of the little acorn locking nuts. Also mine rattled and it sounded like an old, old single banger mine water pump, I liked it, but I did put an aluminum shim between the plate and the stand because my friend on his Hardley was complaining about the sound of my pre-depression era tractor. I guess it did not harmonize well with his aftermarket screaming eagle straight pipes. These youngsters just do not appreciate the sound of machinery working. | ||

Just got a close up look at the XT foot... it is nice, the angle is a little shallower. |
