I converted my SS to a uly rear clip for munchkin and wife hauling. The SS seat is much more comfortable than the uly seat, period. | ||

pick up a cheapie sheepskin and some elastic ironing board cover straps/clips. after a 500mi day my tush is dry and comfy. | ||

IMHO soft seats don't work for long distance. I had a really nice and comfy seat on my triumph sprint. After about 2 hours it felt like a brick, there wasn't enough support for long distance. Check out any of the specialty makers for long distance touring seats, they are all hard. I had a Sargent seat made for the sprint, with that 500 miles days were no problem. I'll take my hard uly seat thank you! | ||

I'm a big fan of Corbin. (there seats not their customer service). I've had them on almost all my bikes. The stock Uly seat seems pretty good so far. I need to take some longer rides on it but it may be a keeper.... | ||

When you got a bony but like mine, you need as much cushion as possible. i need a soft seat. i like the amount of room you have to play with on the uly opposed to the m2 but the m2 has a softer seat which makes it quite alright. | ||

I just sent my seat to Spencers in FL for some improvements. These are Franks comments and they were exactly what I experience: "The goal with the Uly is to correct the seats angle to take advantage of the upright position and get your weight rearward, with the job of support transferred away from your knees to your core muscles where it should be. This with a deepening of the seating "pocket" for better weight distribution and support across the entire width of the seat and a softer frontal midline to relieve pressure on the crotch. Great care is taken so that pressure is also relieved on the tailbone and passenger transition." I'll post once it returns. | ||

I sent my '06 Low seat to Spencer's in January. So far, I've only done one medium day ride (300 miles) and a lot of commuting and shorter rides. As far as I can tell, the seat is definitely no worse, and probably better. Once I get a chance to put on around 500+ miles in a day, I'll know for sure. The biggest part of the problem,(and why I haven't posted about it yet) is that I'm always sore after the first long ride of the season. Once my body's back in shape, I'll be able to give a more subjective and fair appraisal. I'm going out today on another medium length ride. I'll post my impressions tonight. | ||

Ergonomically correct bicycle seats have a slot or depressions down the middle to relieve the pressure on your goods and it certainly works. Motorcycle seats should have that slot worked into them also. Nothing worse than sitting on your nads. | ||

I have been experiencing that "pressure" with the Uly seat. I feel like I am sliding towards the tank all the time. When I had my RT there was a product called seat jacks that allowed you to raise the front of the seat up a bit to level it. Hoping this mod helps in that area. I like the medium Airhawk with minimal air. I am taking a week vacation on the bike in May, which is why I am working on the seat so much. I also had a Alaskaleather sheepskin from my BMW days that I put on top of the Airhawk, That is a really nice combo. Again around town the stock seat is fine, but I do feel like I keep sliding into the tank. On all day rides I was getting the butt pain every hour. The airhawk or airhawk/sheepskin will definetly be an improvement. I have high hopes for the Spencers mod - mostly about the leveling so I am not fighting sliding into the tank. Just so you know I had a Russell Day Long seat built for the Ulysses but it raised the seat at least an inch if not higher that made it a little dangerous for me to ride. | ||

"How do I make the Uly seat as comfy as a Lightning seat? " that's easy! you don't have to do anything, it's already a far better seat than the Lighting seat to begin with! I could never own a Lighting because it's too uncomfortable to ride! | ||

WHHHaaattttt?? Take the lightning for a 500 mile ride then come back and tell us how good a soft seat is. Drive a Cadilac (soft seat) drive a Mercedes (hard seat) for a good distance and well a soft seat just doesn't do it. The 06 Uly seat although high was probably the best Uly seat of them all.
