So I was supposed to pick up my '07 holdover black Uly this past Tuesday. I was going to trade my '08 R6S as I haven't had much luck selling it on my own. In fact, I've had no fewer than six deals fall through on it. Most of them were 18-20 year olds with no credit who couldn't get financing. The one guy who was all set to come pick it up - I even talked to his loan officer to exchange account/payoff info - left the bank, went back to work, and got laid off!

I postponed the deal until today hoping one last potential buyer would come through. Of course he didn't. But by the time I gave up on him the Buell dealer was an hour from closing.

SO...will be trading the Yami in on Tuesday (they're closed Monday).

I haven't ridden the Yamaha so as to keep its ultra low mileage (1100). But it was sunny and 70 today and I had to go for a ride. I took my teen queen with me for a short (20 mile) jaunt around town. I CANNOT WAIT to get rid of this thing. My wrists were numb 5 miles in, neck hurts from the 'looking up' position it forces you into, and my daughter hated it too. Torque...what's that!?

Hurry up Tuesday!!!

Totally curious - Why did you buy that thing? Did you win it in a raffle?

Hurry up Tuesday!

Always had sport bikes, got a good deal, yada yada yada. Also didn't want to admit the bikes of my youth were just no fun anymore. I absolutely haven't been this excited about a bike since my first brand new one back in '92 (Katana 600). Also looks like I might get to take it on a 500-ish mile trip after break in (Maine to Connecticut).

Give a shout when you're in Connecticut. Maybe we can meet up for a burger and bike talk or something.

SO...

Today was supposed to be Uly day...but it didn't happen. Here's the dealio.

My dealer was willing to give me a decent trade on my R6S provided that the local Yamaha dealer would buy it from them for that same amount. They don't want the bike for resale. The buyer at the Yamaha dealership gave me a figure I could live with when I talked to him Friday, but the Buell guys wouldn't do the deal without getting it in writing (I don't blame them). Guess who had the day off today? Yep...the Yamaha buyer. So I am still Uly-less!

*But* I have someone coming from Canada tomorrow with a check to buy it instead. Thankfully I know he's for real as I've sold him a bike before. After all the crap he had to deal with to buy that bike I know he's serious if he's willing to do it all again.

It will probably be next week before all the checks clear and the Yamaha is paid off. Then I can finally get my new steed!

That'll teach me to pray for patience...

The beast is safe at home! In the short miles we've spent together I have no doubt we will have a long and giddy grin filled relationship...

What a cool machine!
