I've passively seen threads about putting 07 springs in the 06 Uly, but not owning one at the time I didn't make sure the info stuck to the gray matter... Now, I own one (YAY). What's the upgrade? Less brake dive (I hope)? Better handling? Both? | ||

FWIW, I think the '07 springs are a straight swap and being progressively wound, are supposed to reduce dive under braking. However........ have you set the pre-load, compression and rebound damping to the specifications in the handbook? I did that on my '06, then I added extra half a turn more compression and rebound front and rear and I'm happy now!!! Much more control under braking! | ||

I'm at the per-weight setup and overall I'm happy with the handling and ride quality other than brake dive...but I may try tossing in some more compression to see what it does. I'm afraid if I put in enough to get rid of the front end dive, it'll hammer my wrists into numbness... | ||

how many miles on the bike? new fluid will make a big improvement as well. usually neglected part of service is changing the fork fluid. | ||

Ratbuell, try increasing the compression damping. If you put in too much, then simply back it off to the last "best setting". It is so easy and effective. Remember, you won't eliminate the front end dive, but you can control it within acceptable limits and retain comfort. Here in UK, one of the best race car builders ever, the late Colin Chapman of Lotus fame, used to go by the maxim of soft springs, firm damping. The damping, (compression and rebound), controls the rate that the spring is allowed to compress and rebound, nothing more, nothing less. You can have comfort AND control. | ||

Uh...900 miles  Working at a dealer, all my services, even on the 25k mile S2, are by the book and ahead of schedule...but I have this problem. Always have. Must...stop...tinkering...nothing...wrong...with.. ..stock...lol. | ||

Just the other day I upped my settings too. I had made a couple of hard stops after being cut off by cages and thought I was going to dump it on one of them ( the road was wavy and I experienced about 2 seconds of pre-tank slapping wobble). Anyway, I just adjusted the settings up one weight class. I figured with all three hardbags and the junk I put in them it would be appropriate. Made a very big difference with respect to decreased front end dive | ||

Well, 1/4 turn compression into the next heavier weight setting (with no other changes) helped out. It even cured some of the high-speed head wobble I was getting. Pouring-ass rain today so although I'm riding, I won't be experimenting with suspension settings lol. I may go another 1/4 turn once it dries out, just out of curiosity... | ||

There was a lengthy discussion and someone from Buell posted that (my summary here): The new fork springs make the bike much less sensitive to variances in fork oil level. The 06 springs with the fork oil level set spot on were supposed to be quite close. | ||

Hey Bob! Glad to be back. I've switched jobs, and my son is now 2, so been keeping rather busy. The Uly has not seen as much attention. But spring is here. |
