I received mine on Saturday. The dealer actually called me to tell me they had hydration packs, and that they were holding one for me. I got to have some serious fun time on the demo 1125, and got the pack . . .and had a couple of Killian's Red as well. The dealer was having their spring "Open House" while I was there, you don't normally get free beer . . .but still, WHAT A DEALER!
Thanks again to High Country Harley Davidson Buell and their many exemplary employees such as Dave, Justin and Brent.

Free beer and test rides. That sounds like a GREAT idea.

(At least they should be serving Shiner Bock.)

Postscript:

The demo riders were "encouraged" to indulge in their demonstration rides before indulging in the free beer. As a matter of fact, they had a two page "sign off" sheet that included wording about "I have not been consuming alcoholic beverages or any other substances that might impair my abilities on a motorcycle." At least, that is what I was told . . .I didn't have my glasses with me when I signed up. DOH!

To be clear, I wasn't pointing a finger at *you*. I'm just very turned-off by the "lifestyle" that Harley promotes. I've owned 6 Harleys and have enjoyed all of 'em - but I cringe when I see the assless chaps, pudding bowl helmets etc. in their marketing material - and providing alcohol at a test ride event (regardless of any legal paperwork they require riders to sign) just rubs me the wrong way.

Anyway, to each their own - and my apologies for the thread hijack.

signed,
Grumpy Old Man

I too went to High County Harley to test ride the 1125R. It was a hoot for sure. However, water doesn't come out of the hydration pack! I guess I have to knife my own slit in the mouthpiece. Yay for cheap chinese marketting gimmicks. Otherwise, it's pretty neato - the entire back is retro-reflective and has a little pocket for something about the size of a wallet.

For every glass, there are those viewed as half full. In your case, you might as well bottoms up to empty; no test ride, no free hydration pack, and with such warmth exuded ....prolly no call from your dealer to come get one either.

Sheesh... criticizing something from miles away that you were not even in attendance at.

Oh yeah, High Country had free BBQ too, PETA is real perturbed about promoting that lifestyle too.

Sounds like a good time! I'm out of touch with my nearest Buell dealer; they're close to 2 hours away. I've gotta check them out and see if they have fun things going on! And, I'm always happy to see beer and bbq, extra happy if it's free...I'm so tired of political correctness trying to keep us safe from ourselves. Kinda like being held hostage by lawyers or something. But, I live in a dry county and have developed an attitude about that! I think I can handle the freedom and still drink the beer after the test ride without hurting myself ; )

My dealer made me make a monday appointment for a test ride because they don't do them on saturday. I go monday and they still aren't ready. Sales guy takes my name and still no call to let me know. I think they are holding out for someone who is in the market for a new bike but they may just be inept at the moment. One thing is certain they haven't seen the last of me. I will get a pack! The least they can do since I bought my Uly from them last year.

Hey. Long time lurker here. Sold my Firebolt back in 2005 but keep reading here. I went to the dealer to get the pack and hopefully ride an XT. Its the first model thats gotten my attention. Got the pack but they've only gotten one XT in and wont order any until someone wants one. They did have an 07 X with an ugly camo theme bodwork for $10,699. Thought about it until I called my insurance agent. Why are Buells rated so high in inurance? My Firebolt was the same price as our Sportster way back when. Guess I'll remain a lurker....

Supposedly - and I don't know this first hand, Sentry Insurance has partnered with Buell to get lower rates. Back in '04 when I bought my first Firebolt, State Farm quoted me one price and then wanted to raise my rate about 60 days later when they "reclassified" the Firebolt as a "sportbike". The rates were significantly lower for a 12S. Go figure. (I'm now using Progressive for my bikes.)

Geico quoted me over $600 for the X vs $245 for a 2008 sportster 1200C and $142 for a 2006 Aprilia Scarabeo 500
