Man, with the jokers on this site, I know I'm really opening myself up with a subject line like that...

I finally got my 2006 Uly back from the shop after a deer strike in February, and the same front-end brake throb that I felt as I limped home after the crash was still there. I'm guessing the front disc might be slightly bent, but I also noticed a new rattle at low speed rolling. I left the bike running as I poked around the front end and found that the disc floats just a little bit around the bolts (which is normal), but the caliper was ALSO "floating" - the hex bolts that connect it to the fork "floated" in their sockets, and it made a "rattle" as I moved it around.

Is this normal? I haven't had a chance to go to a dealer and examine the models on the floor, but something doesn't seem right.

That said, I felt so alive to be back on the Uly after so long (2 months of strictly Harley riding, which is nice, but...). I determined that if I had to have one bike, the Buell would be it.

I'm now shopping for new horns (Stebel vs. Fiamm - I guess my concern is power draw and ease of wiring), frame sliders (having slid recently), and lights. And gear for my girlfriend that actually fits her - you know how hard THAT is...

NO! Did you attempt to torque down those bolts? Maybe the "techs" forgot to. The caliper is rigidly fastened to the fork lower.

Not Good... Crap,Tighten those things. Get your Torque wrench and Red Loctite out. 35-37 ft. lbs (47-50nm).

Sadly, Mr. Hooper, none of us here 'have' a sense of humor.

If your talking about these bolts:

then they should be torqued as mentioned above.

You may need to remove the caliper and chase the threads to remove old loctite and clean and/or replace your bolts.

Yep, those jokers didn't tighten the frickin' brake caliper to the lowers. It's like from some movie when the bad guy sabotages the good guy's car.

They're tightened now, and I reset all the suspension settings, which helped a bundle too - handles like an F-16 now. Thanks for all the advice...
