Hmmmmm....
so on a recent trip on the california coast I started to notice a lurching when I squeeze my front brake. It is as if the rotor is warped or something. It is particularly noticable as the speed gets slower (coming to a stop sign)... so much so that I let off the front brake and push harder on the rear. Inspecting it, it there doesn't seem to be anything out of the ordinary. Has anyone else noticed something like this on thier own?

Had the same thing happen to me, ended up getting a new rotor under warranty. Others have said that putting on lyndal gold pads will fix the issue. It started happening to my lightning so I will try the pads out.

I'll check out my warranty shizzle... maybe I can work it that way, otherwise I'll go with the brake pads.

My pads have worn out and have the same issue but not much with the lurching but a bad noise. I have also heard that the wheel bearings cause a similar issue so you may want to check them also.

It's the standard pads leaving deposits on the rotor (dirty bastards!).
Change the pads or do a series of high-speed,heavy brakings (with front brake only) to scrub off the deposits,also don't sit with the front brake on after a heavy stop having used it as the pad will impart more deposits to the rotor.

Mine does it, which started last summer after a ride up and down Lookout Mountain in Golden Colorado. Very fun ride, but my skills were not that great...which led to me heating up the front brakes too much.

The dealer said that it was normal, and I could not convince them otherwise. So I went with the Lyndal Gold pad upgrade, and it is now mostly gone, not totally, but I do love the feel of the Lyndal's much better.

I have thought about replacing my rotor, but it's not bad enough to justify the expense, especially if it will just happen again.

Has anyone tried the rotor off the XBRR? I was told that it is a little thicker and that it holds up to the heat better. Anyone know if this is true?

Well, I've been looking for the Lyndall Gold's and they don't list a compatible front brake pad for the Uly on their own website.....
anyone know the compatible model #?

I'm the odd man out, but Lyndall Gold Pads caused my problems. Replaced rotor and went back to stock pads.

Not sayin' the Lyndalls aren't good, but...my mileage varied.

Same thing happened to my uly. Had it in for some warranty work and forgot to tell them to look at the rotor. But, when the tech came to a stop to leave the parking lot, he drove it right back in the shop and changed the rotor. He said it wasn't even good enough for a test ride. My hat's off to Appleton Buell (Wisconsin).

Brake rotors can be cleaned.
It takes an abrasive media to remove all traces of the old brake compound. This type of problem (deposits) is not uncommon in racing and is fairly easily remedied.

I've got a pack of Lyndals here. Looks like the part number is 7228. Call American Sportbike and ask for Uly brake pads. They have Lyndal and EBC pads.

I glazed a set of Lyndalls and they caused my rotor to pulse. Having dealt with this before, I immediately changed to a new set and the problem disappeared.

I had my rotor replaced under warranty for pulsing. Since then I've been careful not to engage the front brake when at a stop. The problem hasn't came back in 4000 miles, but I really have no idea if that has anything to do with it.
