when mounting the triple tail to the handles, there is a metal pin. Where does it go?

Does anyone have a picture of under the seat so I could see wire routing? I would appreciate it.

the shop manual shows the pin, but under the installation instructions, it doesn't mention it. However, if this helps. . .

Disassembly

1. Remove the fastener and the plastic collar from the left grab handle
2. To remove the bearings from the grab handles, insert a 3/4 inch blind bearing collet and extract
3. Remove the pin and detent
4. Inspect and replace the spring, pin, and detent as necc.

Assembly

1. hold the right grab hndle and using a SNAP-ON seal and bushing driver, tap in the bearing.
2. Hold the left grab hndle to assemble the detent and pin.
3. Using a Snap-on seal and bushing driver, tap in the bearing.

Assembly

1. apply red loctite to the LH and RH grab handle fasteners
2. Install the LH grab handle unto the front fastener and install the rear fastener, do not tighten
3. Slide the spring into the LH grab handle
4. press the spring with the shaft of the triple tail and hold the rack in place capturing the spring.
5. Install the plastic collar and tighten fastener to 36 - 48 inch pounds.
6. Holding the rack, fit the RH grab handle unto the front fastener and install the rear fastener, do not tighten.
7. Tighten rear fasteners to 23 - 25 ft-lbs
Tighten the front fasteners to 96 - 120 inch-lbs
8. Verify that rack operates properly.

it's not at all clear to me, but it seems to line up parallel to, and next to the spring? the picture shows it either slightly ahead or below the spring.

?????

you may have to ask a Buell tech
