Adobe is killing me! I download the "latest version of flash" which appears to no longer be by macromedia. It is now adobe, and a ton of my websites no longer work and some of my networking applications don't work. They say "get the latest version of MACROMEDIA flash here," I click the link, forwarded to adobe flash and download and nothing! Anyone else have this problem. I can only see this being a while till it is globally resolved (especially for older flash programs like I run). | ||

Found the fix, uninstall any flash player on your PC then reinstall using active x installation from adobe.com | ||

I had to edit the registry in order to get Flash working on the desktop running XP. What a frustrating experience that was. | ||

I was sad when Adobe bought out Macromedia. The latest Adobe Flash player (8 I think) will play all items created in Adobe's version of Flash and the previous versions of Macromedia Flash. Microsoft has also come out with there own version of Flash which they are calling Silverlight and it's not supported on all operating systems and browser. So you have more confusion to look forward to in the future of the internet. If you have problem with Microsoft's Internet Explorer you may want to think about installing Firefox. It's better at handling plugins (like Flash). | ||

Unless a newer version of it came out it doesn't support Windows 2000. (On the Visual Studio side.) In the next year or so it's going to be get big. Have you worked with it Towjam? | ||

As a person who owns a web development company that specializes in flash content it's always interesting to watch Microsoft. As soon as they identify a company that has significant market share they either buy it or try and replicate it. Yes Adobe caused some hiccups when they bought Macromedia but they integrated it well with their products and developers and users benefited. I don't believe MS will catch up to flash. If they do, we won't get anywhere near the rapid advancement and support and there is no doubt they will make every effort to commercialize it with adware etc. Hmmm, guess I'm opinionated huh? Flash block is the first thing I install after I install Firefox. 99.9% of the time, flash is the modern replacement of the "blink" tag. If forced, I will use flash (flash block makes it easy to choose). But if I have a choice, I will spend my money at sites without the dancing ponies and blinking lights.  |
