After speaking with my Uncle, a fellow Uly rider, I recently re-tuned my suspension for warmer riding. Several months ago I "loosened" everything up as per the manual for winter. I just wanted to comment on the HUGE difference in handling/cornering/precision that 1/4 of a turn on one tiny little screw can make on this very impressive suspension that Erik has blessed us with. When you get some time, take a look at the manual and develop settings (preferably on paper) that suit your weight/riding needs. You won't be disappointed, and may even find it rides like a different (better) machine. I apologize if this paragraph was a waste of 24 seconds of your life, but I felt it worth getting out there for those who have not yet fine tuned this incredible machine.

I'm a slow reader ... it took me almost 45 seconds.

lol Hope you ride faster than you read!

1080, it is always good when we are reminded to do things sometimes. I am going to retune my suspension tonight. Thanks for the reminder.

I would like to know if your settings can fall out of adjustment after leaving them alone for a long time. I had them set for my weight, but ride every day, and never check or reset them. So, I'm wondering if they need periodic readjustments.

I'm not sure if they fall "out of adjustment" but you might try going through the manual, deciding you want a bit more cornering precision or a plusher ride etc., and a screw/knob turn or two later you've got a new experience. Just a thought. I've had my 07 since last October and haven't noticed the settings changing on their own. Every time I adjust the suspension, I count the turns back to zero, and they have been consistent with my initial settings. Given enough time/conditions perhaps it's possible.

They shouldn't fall out of place; maybe slightly but nothing major. You can use some torque stripe paint (aka torque seal) if you want to monitor a bolt to see if there is any drift in your settings. This is really great stuff and makes it easy to inspect critical bolts and screws. We used it on all of our aviation equipment in the Army.

I rode for almost a year with my settings the way I bought the bike. Never had a bike with so much adjustability, didn't think I needed the options. Boy was I wrong.

When I decided to experiment I found the stock settings didn't even match the tables within the weight groups!

Once I set them per the tables for my weight I couldn't believe the improvement.

When I installed the '07 front springs things got even better when I adjusted to '07 spec. When solo I run things a little taut and when the wife goes riding it balances out for comfort.

Full load with gear and I run the back settings at max and the front at a notch under, works great.

I run my suspension the same X. If I know I am going to be off road at all I do soften it up a bit so I don't break the bike in half.

I rode my '06 Uly with the stock settings. The dealer assured me it had been set up in the work shop for my weight, (although they never asked!!!). I noticed it pushing the front wide on corners, (understeer), so I dialed in some pre-load on the rear shock and the difference was amazing!!!

Following this, I checked all of the settings against the chart in Eric's Bible and ALL of the settings were for someone like Dani Pedrosa!!! I'm 6'2" and around 190lbs. I set them to the Bible and the difference is amazing! It really is so simple and quick to do for such large benefits!!!
