Does anyone have the city-x bars fitted on their Uly? I often wonder what this would ride like. I love the feel of my city x and when I ride my buddies Uly I miss the somewhat lower sportier position but find the uly is a better match for what I want to do with a motorcycle. Do you think it would decrease buffeting, increase it, increase the sport bike feel, decrease the dirt bike feel????? Let me know what you think????

Also do you think that the brake and clutch cable would be OK or would they need to be shortened?

i use them in the mountains and for track days w/the stock windscreen and it is great, and comfy for a long day. ordinary riding, touring etc i put a 2" riser on [from amer. sport bike] which also pulls them back and use a cee bailey 16" windscreen and it is real comfy. next track day, barbers, i think i will leave the risers on and just change the screen. the smaller bars do make it feel more sporty.

Im running the medium renthal street bars from Al at American Sport Bike. and just love them. Being able to lean into the wind a bit really helps at over 80mph. The clutch cable was no problem at all but the Brake line needs to be shuffled through behind the gauges a bit, I have never really gotten that line to look quite right, but it all works.

I switched to the cityx bars 3 weeks after I got the uly. I have been running them for a couple of years now and I have done 16k on the bike so far. I am 5'11 and have no issues with buffeting. Wires work fine, just tuck the excess back into the cluster pod.

The feel is a little more sporty with all the comfort. I noticed with the stock bars my hands would start to go to sleep. That issue has been resolved with the Cityx bars.

The only down fall using the bars are the position it puts the clutch cable in. It will put it right in the way of the LCD. A little creativity will resolve this.

Here is my 06 with a set of Lightening bars. They are the same except they don't have the crossbar and are chrome instead of black. I like it like this. Feels sportier and more comfortable. I don't ride off road and this makes it a better street bike. : )

tanks to everyone. If anyone like Slowride has pics of the city x bars on the bike that would help out a lot. Has anyone rode the city-x. It has great ergos and I would be interested in transferring that feel to the Uly. Keep em coming.

I have some CR low bars that won't bolt up b/c they foul at the forks. Going to order some 1" risers from Precision Engineering tomorrow. The will give the clearance that is needed.

I'll post pics when it is done. The result will be a couple of inches lower, about an inches less pull back and a little wider then stock. I'm looking to go in a more sporting direction from stock.

Looks like CRAP with those bars. One of the many great things about the Uly is the stock bars. They add to the bad-ass.

If you want a sport bike, get stupid japanese sport bike with the nascar clown color scheme and be done with it.

So I guess my City-X isn't a sportbike. Who knew? In order for my Uly to continue its "Bad Ass" statis I will keep the bars the same. I would not want to decrease the bas assness.

Personal opinion is one of the great freedoms left, as is personal choice. Me? I like the bars!!!

2. Actually, upon further consideration, those bars don't look so bad. I just had to get used to it perhaps.
