I put an update in the archived thread but it didn't come up so I started this new thread.

Well after one long ass wait it is here today. Unfortunately I still have four inches of ice in front of my garage. My bike won't be coming out for a bit yet. I have a large helmet and it is snug. The pump fits it to my cheeks fine. I do not like the way the internal visor leaves a bit of light under it but in it's defense it will not be a problem on the bike where I tend to look through the upper portion anyway, it doesn't go all the way down and when hot I imagine I will like that so i can ride and still get extra airflow. Once I get to ride with it I will do an update post. Thanks every, Bertotti

Cool, I look forward to hearing more! Bertotti, what was your prior helmet? I have a EXO400 and a HJC CL15. I was wondering how the size fit..say compared to the old EXO400...you might guess (correctly) that I've a fat head...

I bought an EXO 1000 back on November. It has to be the most comfortable helmet I have ever had. I had an HJC carbon AC-12 before that and the difference is huge. Riding with the 1000 makes me feel like I am driving an SUV instead of a motorcycle.

While in the middle of a 2000 mile ride with the new 1000, I dropped it in the parking lot of a hotel. It sounded like a plane crash when it hit the deck. The outer shield and all the hardware went flying in all directions, leaving me with a trashed outer face shield and chipped chin bar a 1000 miles from home.

I finally got around to contacting ScorpionUSA and spoke to Doug about repairing the helmet. He said not to worry, that he would take care of it and he gave me an RA number. So far the helmet and the Scorpion experience has been great. I will know more when it comes back.

Sounds great Treadmarks, I've been waiting for the revised photochromic visor from Scorpion to come out but it looks like it is on terminal backorder. Maybe a jump to the EXO1000 would be the ticket. 3XL on the HJC is too sloppy (but ok with balaclava) and 2XL on the Scorpion allows me to count my pulse rate. Maybe I should change my handle to Fathead, think FB would take exception?

Sorry, back to topic ... do either of you wear glasses, if so have you discovered any interference with the shaded visor?

I had one for a short while. I noticed the internal visor was scuffed, and upon closer inspection noticed some glue on the felt inside the pocket. Took it back, the store sent it back to Scorpion. A month later, Scorpion returns a brand new one. I ended up returning it and downgrading to a EXO-700 instead.

My opinions on the helmet:

It fits great, smells good, and looks nice. However, the internal tinted drop-down visor doesn't drop down low enough leaving the bottom edge in your field of vision. The pump-me-up cheek pads were a big question mark for me. Why would you need to pump the cheeks up? Shouldn't the helmet fit properly without the Nike Air cheek pumps?

Ok, if the internal visor dropped down completely, like a fighter pilot helmet, then it would be a great helmet. It's great to ride with a clear visor at night or early morning, and the option to have the tinted drop-down is nice. Never tried it with glasses, but it doesn't seem like there's a whole lot of room in there. Maybe depends on the specs you're wearing.

All in all, not worth $300 to me. My reason for going back to the EXO-700. Hope this helps.

I wear Rx Rudy Project skyman glasses and they fit under the visor perfectly.

I like the fact that the visor has a gap in the bottom, as it helps prevent the heat from building up under the lid in traffic and I can pop open the main shield without frying my retinas.

I've had my 1000 since late last summer. It's been a great helmet. The pump up cheek pads are nice since as the cheek pads break in and compress, you can pump them back up for that "new helmet" fit all the time. I used to wear only Arai helmets, but after my last one that suffered cracked side pods, lost a chin vent, had an issue with the shield staying closed and sealed, a visor that fogs up even on not so cold days, and a hefty price tag...I decided to give another brand a try. My issues with the Arai were all fixed under warranty, but still, for what you pay for that helmet you shouldn't have any issues. I've not had a single issue with the Scorpion. It's solid, comfortable, and seems to not buffet as badly for some strange reason.

The internal visor works well for me as I prefer to ride with a clear shield whenever possible. I just don't like things being "dark". I seldom even wear sunglasses. I have UV filtering contacts, so my eyes are already protected. If I'm riding into the sun, or it's really bright out, I flip down the visor until I don't need it anymore then it goes back up.

The only complaint I have with the helmet is that when I use it on the track, the forehead section where the internal visor is stored is so thick that in a full tuck it's hard to see out. I may go for a EXO700 for track duty. Seems to work well for Mat Maladin. : )

Yeah, but now since he only weighs 68lbs soaking wet, he needs the lighter helmet. : D

I have not tried any glasses with it yet. I wear RX mars Oakleys when outside. My last two helmets were both Fulmer a half bucket and a 3/4. I like the pump up cheeks. I like that it helps stabilize the side to side.

My dream helmet was the one made in France that looks like a space helmet but I thought it cost to much to order in and it isn't approved over here.

I was told the winter snowmoblie visor will fit on it also. Now that is a plus.

Sorry to thread jack, but I had to interject a story. The first year I went to Bike week in '99, my brother and I went to Carrabas for dinner one night. This really hot chick walks in with a horse jockey behind her. I motioned to my brother and said there must be a horse track nearby. He said "take your track book over there and have Miguel Duhamel autograph it you 'tard." Wow, he was a little guy. Honda site lists him as 5'6" 145lbs. I think that is standing on a few phonebooks wearing a lead backpack.

Yeah...I got to see Miguel at Road America. He is a small guy. I nearly bumped into Mladin in the bathroom. A friend of mine and I waited outside the door and I took this picture of my friend standing with Mat.

Here's a pic of Miguel from a distance. Couldn't get the camera out fast enough to get a close up. He was headed for the scooter.
