Is the 08 Uly spark plug clearing and TPS reset proceedure in the owners manual, or the shop bible manual? (King James version)Also: do irridium plugs really provide any extended benefits ? Havent had any problems in first 200 mi but...it's a long and winding road. Thanks folks - jphish

08 Thunderstorms do no require TPS resets.

Not in owners manual. To clean the plugs simply hold the throttle wide open and turn the key on, hold for 4 seconds and repeat if necessary. Might want ear plugs due to backfires and whatnot. TPS reset from what I read on here was to turn the key on and cycle the throttle from none to full waiting 1 second at each extreme 3 times then turn key off. Please correct me if any of this is incorrect (I'm sure someone will).

I know you are under warranty...but when I was under warranty I changed to the Iridium plugs which are much less foul prone.

Its in the big manual. TPS reset is right as bikesquatch says.

What is this spark plug cleaning trick? Sounds a bit harsh! : )

Irridium plugs help a little I think.

It has been discussed in many threads before. It seems that people are expecting the de-fouling thing to perform a miracle and save fouled plugs. From what I've seen it will get the bike to run, but not like new plugs will. It appears to me more like a 'limp home mode' repair.

The plugs don't cost that much and aren't that hard to change(after the first time). Why let a $10.00 set of plugs ruin riding the bike of a life time.

Once cleared up from dealership and winter start ups, the thing will easily do the 10,000 mile intervals on plugs.
