My wife and I stopped in to the local Buell dealership during lunch yesterday to get real pricing on the '08 XT. They had no '08 model XTs on the floor, so they couldn't give me a real out the door price. However, they did have an '07 and made me a "deal" on it. Of course once the bags were added, it wasn't much of a deal, so I said thanks but no thanks. Then I said "but if you let me have it at $xxx, I'll take it." Next words out of his mouth were "deal."

So, I filled out the paperwork, went back to work, and picked up the bike after work. Of course my BMW RT doesn't quite know what to think of the Ulysses yet. ; )

I will say this, the local HD dealership while super nice, freely admitted they really didn't have much of a clue on the Buells. When I went to pick it up, they couldn't find the owner's manual, so they were going to have to order it, they also couldn't figure out how to get the backrest up. Then, one of their service techs (the one who installed the bags) came out grinning from ear to ear. Turns out he owns a Uysses and was more than happy to go over the bike with me and explain a few things. Turns out he is one of their Ride Safe instructors and also a member of the local Buell club. Once we pulled the seat off, my "lost" owners manual was found.

It was late and so I just drove it from the dealership to my house. But, I was impressed and very happy with the purchase. Now I simply have to figure out which tall windscreen to get.

Well done...............you must be the first here to get the XT?
Do you have any pictures?
Regarding the screen, doesn't it come with a taller screen?

Be interesting to know how the owners manual got under the seat. : ) I was going to let you know that it is also on the Buell website.

I'll bet you have a ball with the bike.

Congratulations and keep us posted!

cangrats on the new bike.

I had the exact same thing happen with my owners manual. The sale person was calling a bunch of people around the shop and looking all over. Then it ended up being under the seat.

Although my experience with the staff where I bought my Uly all together crappy. I'll probably never go back to Hale's HD in Ohio again, after my multiple bad experiences.

Towjam is correct, I got the X, not the XT since they didn't have one. I rode it this morning in 30 deg. weather to breakfast with the BMW club. I forgot how cold it can get on a naked bike.

Overall, the ride was good, but the cold made the ride a little less enjoyable. However, the built-in heater I was riding helped warm me up when I stopped. On my way home, I stopped off at the HD/Buell dealership and picked up a set of the heat deflectors they are now putting on the '08 models. I don't know if that really will help, but I'll give them a try. They were cheap enough, so I hope they are worth it.

Be very careful. After you fit the large screen to the Uly, you may find that you'll never ride the RT again - especially if you add the Buell luggage.

About the heat deflector things, they tend to make the seat warmer, so thats a plus with the colder days. Nobody else has pointed that out, so I don't know if its just me.

I did buy the luggage since I got 10% off if I purchased it at the time I bought the bike. This bike is suppose to be my in-town bike since I've already got 40,000 on my '04 RT. The idea is to keep the RT for more touring and use the Buell as my everyday bike.

congrats on the new Uly!

as for the tall windscreen, I have both the 16" Cee Baileys and the Buell tall windshield which is the one I use mostly, but if I was to purchase another one, I would most likely purchase the Zero Gravity tall black screen. I think it looks the best.

I only use the Cee Baileys 16" screen in the winter because of the wind hitting me on the top of my helmet, it gives me a headache.

One thing is for sure. I am very spoiled by the brakes on the RT. It's been a while since I've ridden a bike that didn't have dual ABS power assisted brakes. I really had forgotten what it's like not having them until I rode the Ulysses. But, as I ride this bike more, I'll post more thoughts on the bike.

Wayne,
Congratulations on your purchase. You won't be disappointed with the Uly. No doubt,Denny was the guy that helped you. Denny is a great guy. I look forward to meeting you at Opals.

Hey, Wayne. Before making a decision on a taller windshield, see what some of the other Hellbuellies are running. Brad swears by his CalSci. He rides the s--t out of his. Hell, he rode it to Little Rock last Tuesday so I'd have someone to ride back with on Wednesday. I think you'll get quite addicted to your Uly. You may find it a pleasant touring choice.
BTW, are your headlights adjusted adequately?

I don't know, I didn't get a chance to ride it yesterday, or today... although I almost did since I'm solo today and not having to take my daughter to school, but I had a car full of carpet and padding that needed to be tossed in the dumpster at work and well that pesky rain kept me from riding today. I'll find out tomorrow.
