I haven't installed mine yet. Still dithering about how to orient the face. What temperature range have you found? I want to make that part of the scale easiest to read. Maybe a picture or two would help get me moving.

Mine is working great. I have a hard time seeing the #'s without my reading glasses so I marked some temp.'s with different color Sharpies. That did the trick.

Thanks again
Frank

I keep forgetting to pick up the glue. Must have been to Walmart 3-4 times since I received the kit.

Working sweet EG, working sweet!

Mine started getting warm in traffic today, then the check engine light came on.

It was about then when I realized my fan wasn't running.

Oil temp was under 200 so I drove it on home.

So now I have that to look forward to.

I know EG shipped mine on monday. Hopefully it will be here friday for my weekly bench racing session in my garage with my buddies. I should be able to install it even after a few beers.

Gotta love a functional, simple, inexpensive, easy to install farkle.

This is how mine looks with it screwed in snug. It ends up in this attitude every time ( of course ). When I get off the bike I can read it easily.

I've given it a little thought and here is how I could do the sealing of temp probe to modified dipstick plug at my end. You'd have to email a digital photo though.

First you'd have to identify the triple knob that corresponds to the leading edge male thread on your dipstick.

Then put a piece of masking tape on it and screw it into your swingarm. Snap a picture of it and email it to me. When I made the Temp dipstick I'd use your photo to figure how to seal the temp probe in the modified dipstick plug so it would look correct when you screwed it into your swingarm.
Here's the why: All the dipsticks are molded and are therefore identical. The swingarm dipstick hole threads are machined and the leading edge of that female thread can start anywhere around the circle of that hole.
That's why you'd need to send a photo. Without the photo you'd have to seal it up yourselves when you got the kit. Sorry I didn't think of this before for those of you I sent kits to.

I was shamed into going to Walmart last night and picked up the high-temp RTV silicon. They only had red but it doesn't really show. All installed and it is oriented for easy reading when I get off the bike. Tested it today. Temp was up to around 170F after a 25 mile stop and go trip to my business partner's house. Thanks EG!

hey EG... works great ... serves double duty as well, cooked a turkey last weekend and and used it. thanks, again.

BTW, next you need to figure our how to stuff an 'idiot light' in there, for those that aren't sure if a gauge is all that useful.

Not a good photo but this is my color coded version after riding back from Daytona today. 50 miles at 80 mph followed by about 2 miles in stop/go traffic.

Johnboy,
I sure hoped you cleaned it good before shoving it home into that turkey.

Ftd,
Seeing that you are a Forensic chemist, maybe you could wipe my fingerprints off the face of that thermometer.

Hey EG,

Not to complain, or anything, but I have a slight problem.

Seems I can't get the thermometer dipstick to seat all the way in, and can't figure out why.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
John}

Johnboy,
Good one. At least I know that I did ship you the calibration tool.
