Looking for something slightly lower and slightly wider. Can't decide on Renthal mediums or ProTapers. I also really dislike the crossbar on the stockers because of the way they block a clear view of the instrument pods. Help me decide, or suggest something different. Looking for matte black bars, whatever type they are. |

My vote:
They are the Pro Tapers Charmichael bend and Precision Engineering fat bar clamps. They have a slimmer top clamp if'n you don't like mondo billet. |

If you want something slightly lower and slightly wider go with the Protaper "Raptor" bars with Precision Engineering "Slim Line" 1-1/8" clamp kit. I just put this combination on last weekend and really like it. If you have longer arms like FB then you can go with any number of MX bends they offer (CR high, CR Low, etc.). I also re-fitted my bar ends weights which may or may not be worthwhile because the Protapers have a lot more mass and are more rigid than the stockers. I just needed a way to connect my handguards back up. Total cost was about $140.00. |

Excellent! I'm gonna look into the Protapers then. Strokizator, any pics of your setup? |

Looking at the Pro Taper website, I can't tell the difference between the Contour bars and the Seven Eights bars except the crossbar/pad that appears to be optional. It does appear that the Carmichael bend is the perfect rise. My only concern is that the Buell heated grips will fit Pro Tapers. They should right? The Raptors are twice as tall as the Carmichaels, so I think I like the Carmichaels a little better. I have longer arms too. Not like chimpanzee long, but I'm 6' and lanky. |

Yup...the Buell heated grips work fine with the ProTapers! I have them on my Raptors. |

Oh, and the contours require the 1-1/8" mounting adapters. The 7/8" bars are a direct replacement but have a crossbar because it is needed for proper strength and support. (Message edited by maximum on February 27, 2008) |

I really liked these, but no heated grips that would fit.....

If all you want is shorter bars, then it looks like the XB12STT bars would do the trick. I'll be posting a "how-to" on the Protaper bars with HVMP bar ends without hogging out the inside diameter. |

put the blast bars on the CityX to get a bit more up in the stirrups when running off road. didnt have to change the cables at all. did have to reroute the brake line though.

Anyone got a set of City X or STT bars they'd be willing to sell me? It was worth a shot, right? 1313 |
